I feel that I worry so much about always doing the right thing that I may not be enjoying my children as much as I should.

If they hate you, you're doing a great job.

Just kidding. I always hear that and laugh.

It's good to let them know what the right things are, but it's also good to let loose every once in a while and live life to the fullest. Protecting them from everything fails them.

If you really feel that you aren't enjoying your children as much as you should, you should take that as a cue to make some changes. Enjoy them and let them enjoy you!

Find a good compromise. Don't be one of the "I just want to be your friend" and done be one of those "Fear me, child!". Find some middle ground. It's fun.

You only know when your children are grown up and own thier own. You can only do what yo consider the right things as they are growing, and it is natural to worry if you are doing things right when they are growing.
Whn they are grown up, and living on thier own, if they are responsible and respectable, you did a good job. Don't worry about it for now, because we all make mistakes, and we have the chance to learn from those mistakes, and spoil the grandchildren when that day comes.

Join the club I think most parents have your same concern. I always have that worry in the back of my mind but then my kids will say or do something that just makes me sit back and say wow maybe I'm not doing so bad after all. Everyone makes mistakes and kids aren't born holding an instruction booklet so don't sweat it enjoy them!

I know that I am a good parent because my kids are genuinely happy. You need to enjoy them rather then worry about if you are doing the right thing. They grow up way too fast.

If your kids aren't on TV someday for shooting the president, you're a good parent.
Seriously, I know what you mean. When I get like that I just try to have fun with my daughter, and I also ask her if she's happy It's a tough balancing act trying to make sure they tow the line and that they can be themselves.

Just by worrying about it shows that you care alot about your childeren. I always wonder if i am to. No parent is perfect but if you give them what the need have a job to support them pay attention to them punish them when they need it and spoil them a little and if everything you do, you think about them first, your on the right track.

When you manage to do the guiding without spanking, shouting or other degrading things so many seem to think disciplines children when it just gets their rag up, and teaches problem solving is a war zone.

I think the fact that you are worried tells that you are a good parent - if your child learns to control their behavior (most of the time - we all lose it sometimes), is respectful, responsible, and caring - then you are a great parent!

You know you are good when you see your child growing into a responsible, caring individual.

You can't be perfect and neither can they. Be there for eachother. Not as a best friend, but as a parent, guiding them into adulthood.

Chilren are not there to give you personal enjoyment. You get enjoyment by guiding and watching them mature into good people.
