I absolutely loved the home-grown tomatoes we had when I was a child, but these days what they sell as tomatoes are often some hothouse-variety that are picked green and ripened in a truck somewhere or refrigerated so that they bear little resemblance to the real thing. Occasionally I find good ones, and they're heavenly.

No, when I was a kid we had tomatoes and I saw tomato worms and ever since I don't like eating tomatoes. I do like ketchup and tomato soup lol.

I just love them. I've been making gazpacho all summer with farmer's market tomatoes. The heirlooms are great; all the pretty different kinds with varying tastes.
