...don't you think we acclomplished it? Maybe went a little overboard? This world is overpopulated, and christians are still touting "be fruitful and multiply" as an argument against homosexuality. Maybe God is making more homosexuals to curb the population problem. I know for a fact that I was born gay, and don't tell me I wasn't. Being gay is not a choice. If you're not gay, you wouldn't know, did you make a choice to be straight?

Yes we have gone overboard with the whole multiplying thing. Sure the Bible says that but it was also written a very long time ago. It's just not practical in modern times to be having 10 or 12 children. We have almost 7 billion people on the planet now, let's not add anymore.

How does anyone figure the world is overpopulated??? There are still millions of hectares left for humans to live...what exactly is the carrying capacity of the world.. I would like to know what it is if anyone actually knows. I agree with you that you didn't make the choice to be gay. I don't know the answer to why God makes some people gay and others not. I have sympathy for homosexuals it would not be an easy life style even in this day and age.

It's not true that the world is overpopulated. That's a myth that, unfortunately, is popular with too many people.

A few years ago, even the UN admitted that its alarmist statements about overpopulation were untrue.

Besides, there are plenty of other arguments -- both moral and practical -- to be made against homosexuality. It's not only the "be fruitful" thing.

First, let me say that the earth is not overpopulated. We are simply paying farmers not to produce their crops. With the amount of farmland we have available, our farmers could easily produce enough food for the entire world! But, in order to control the prices, our government pays farmers not to farm.

Now, about the "be fruitful and mulitply" command being used to argue against homosexuality, it is a very weak argument! First, it is being taken out of its context. It was a command to Adam and Eve, and to my knowledge was never reissued. Does that mean that we should not "be fruitful and multiply"? I believe it is still a valid command, but not a very strong argument against homosexuality.

I believe you when you say that you were born gay. Everyone is born with a nature that Paul refers to as, "natural man" or "the old man". This is a natural bent toward sin. God did not make us this nature. It is a result of Adam's sin way back in the garden when he ate the forbidden fruit.

Does this make our sins excusable? No. God does state the homosexuality is wrong.
1 Timothy 1:9-10 states, "knowing this, that the law is not given unto a righteous man, but unto the lawless and disobedient, to the ungodly, and to sinners, to the unholy, and to the profane, to murderers of fathers and mothers, to manslayers, to whoremongers, to buggerers, to menstealers, to liars, to the perjured, and if there be any other thing, that is contrary to wholesome doctrine." (Geneva Bible).
The word "buggerers" is an old word for homosexuals. So you see, that God does call homosexuality sin. But, lest you think I am picking on you, note that liars are included in the above list, as are those who use profane language. We, Christians, are sinners also, but we have been forgiven and you can be too!

I would encourage you to rethink your statement that God made you gay. James states, "God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth He any man. But every man is tempted when he is drawn away of his own lust and enticed. Then, when lust has conceived it brings forth sin, and sin, when it is finished, brings forth death." This is found in James 1:13-15.

respectfully,
Terry

So why do you think the world is over populated...havent you been out there...obviously not...did you know that you could fit the entire population of the united states into the state of Texas with houses and cities and still have room for more ....that leaves a lot of room for more....you need to go to school....and as for being born gay...nope not true....you never would have thought of that unless some unethical scientist put that in your head....you use that for your excuse because you want to be that way....fudge packing is grossssssss.....

Thats an argument I havent heard before, homosexuals exist to curb over population. Interesting argument. But homosexuals still find ways to re-produce, so that cant be it.

I'm not bashing, I have no problem with homosexuals, and I wish you the best with this, you'll probably get alot of preachy arguments.

the world is nowhere near overpopulated. the entire population of earth could drown in lake loch ness at the same time. all 6 billion + of us could fit in the state of rhode island, with more than enough breathing room. homosexuality is a choice, as is being a lying, stealing, killing, etc. all sins are made of one's own volition. the Bible clearly states that homosexuality is unnatural, and 2 entire cities were destroyed because of it.
God accepts you the way you are, He just can't accept the way you are.

Well there is no god, and the multiply thing was to increase numbers for the army. There is genetic evidence to prove that gay is not a choice, but many do chose it to be cool, because it is now a fad. Many gays are actually not. You can see one part of the brain is different in true gays. I think that is how it goes, but never cared enough to look far into it.

Dear Harry,

I personally agree with you that the earth is overpopulated...

Thank you for sharing your viewpoint regarding homosexuality.

I appreciate the fact that you believe that God made you... now, whether God made you gay, or if that is a consequence of life-choices that you (and the people in your life made) remains a topic of some contoversy...

I would like to commend you for your desire to believe in God...

I used to be an atheist. Over a period of time however, I grew convinced of the existence of the Christian God, and ultimately committed my life to Christ (e.g., see http://www.godsci.org/gs/chri/testimony/seek.html ).

Cordially,
John

I do not feel this question has a lot to do with making babies as much has it is you feel your being judged because of your sexual desires. God made man in the beginning of creation and gave man the ability to multiply, God does not make straight or gay people. His job of making people is finished.
I won't judge you and tell you that you are right or wrong about it being your choice or not to be Gay. I say that only has something to do with you and God. you should not concern yourself how anyone else see's this. I do not go out and feel the need to tell people about my personal information, nor should you feel that you need to.
If your looking for acceptance through others your going to have some agree and disagree. Keep in mind that if you ask openly your going to hear both sides. Most people who believe in religion will say that it is wrong and it is a sin because that is what the Bible tells us. We do not make the rules of religion we can not change them and I am afraid God isn't about to change them. We here can not tell you how to be or how to act or what choices you should make. The thing is you should not be upset because others tell you it is wrong or it is your choice because your not going to burn for their sins and they are not going to burn for yours. The only one you need to be concerned about is God not us.
