We need information on the international and domestic adoption processes. Info on financial assistance would be helpful as well. Thanks.

My husband and I are in the process of adopting right now. We started the process by contacting an agency called Adoption Assistance (www.adoptionassistance.org) We live in Ky but this agency may be able to let you know which agency to contact in YOUR state. Also, if you want to learn more about international adoption agencies you need to take a look at www.precious.org.
This site let you browse on your own through different countries or agencies OR you can fill out a questionnaire and it will pick out children that fit the criteria that you are best suited for. Other good sites to look into are adoption.com and adoption.org. Have fun and good luck. And YES adoption is not cheap, but there is a HUGE tax credit in the end (over $10,000) and you don't have to pay for everything up front. We paid as we went along.

See a lawyer and be prepared to spend a lot of money. If you need financial assistance, best forget it as there are not many that will help in that area and go for local adoption if that is what you really want. Going to cost a bundle though either way.

If China is an option, I'd suggest Great Wall China Adoption. They only do Chinese adoptions so they are #1 in my books.

Contact a home study agency. The social worker can help answer your questions, and your first step must always be to complete the home study.

Try your county. The state too.

They even pay for it. Costs less than private or international adoption.

You can contact your local department of social services if you are located within the United States, and they should be able to direct you on where to start. :) Good luck!
