Think back to what made you enthusiastic about it before and remind yourself of the reasons you wanted to lose.

If those reasons are still important to you, the thing to do is get back to the basics.

- Analyze the portion sizes of things you're eating. They may not be the same as when you started. A cup of something may now be a cup and a half and (unless you weigh things) you probably don't even realize it. You end up maintaining (or gaining) weight rather than losing it. You didn't say how much you lost, but keep in mind that if you lost alot you may have to re-adjust the portion sizes down a little.

- Look at what you're eating and be honest with yourself. Count the little things too. They add up.

- Get some exercise somewhere. Even a nice long walk after dinner on a routine basis will help to bring down weight.

Plateaus happen. If you can get off the plateau and start losing again, the motivation and enthusiasm to lose will come back.

A good motivator that I've used is to pick up something that weighs what you lost. When I did that, I immediately thought, "wow, I've lost that". It gets you re-interested in losing weight and gets you doing the things you should be doing.

Another motivator is to put a photo of someone who has the weight you want to get to on the fridge. It doesn't have to be a photo of you, but if you have one that's better.

Good luck

Set targets, long term and short term. When you reach those targets, reward yourself, if not, adjust diet and exercize accordingly and continue. If you get lazy and stop putting the effort in, ask yourself did you really want to change in the first place, then build up the motivation within yourself by thinking about where you are heading, and what the final result will be. Keep a journal of your progress, then look back at how far you've come and smile.

A goal doesn't do you any good unless you have something else.

You have discovered laziness to reach a goal and that is what you missed.

I'll say it again there are 4 steps:

1 Intention or purpose
2 Vision
3 Goal
4 Action

Without nailing the first two on that list work on goals always falters - no one can maintain any activity for long unless they have a burning desire and that is the purpose and a vision of what you want to achieve.

First things first: what are your intentions?

Thats hard.

The best thing you can do is control your eating. Excercise is hard when you don't have enthusiasm, but you can always control your eating, so reduce your intake to 1200- 1500 calories.

Then just go to the gym twice or more a week, dont REQUIRE yourself to do anything. Do as little as you want, but do something.

Even if you do the elliptical for 10 minutes, youre more likely to do 12 next time, etc.

Remember also, your brain has to control you not your mood. IF you know you have to do this, do it.

Pick out a reward that you will get for yourself when you hit a certain point (not necessarily your goal, but pick a goal in between where you are and your goal). So if you still need to lose 20 pounds, then reward yourself every 5 pounds. :)

Put a picture of your old self on the fridge as well as overweight people/pics you can find on Internet... I look at pro-ana sites. I tell myself I don't deserve the food, it will just make me fat. When I feel the urge to eat, I go walk, even if it's just outside. Think how good you will feel once you acheive your goal weight. Make a schedule for yourself on when to walk and stick to it. It will become routine, and you will feel bad when you don't go..

I've been losing weight...and surprisingly staying very focused. I've been using hypnosis cds that are really working, I've lost 19 pounds to date and actually feel that my goal is well within my grasp. There are different ones out there, but I got the 'Wend Freisen' set and they are working.

Try something new.. like an exercise tape or a new sport or a bunch of new recipes. ... if all fails, go to the mall, try on a pair of pants in the size that you want to be and if they don't fit... there's your motivation.

I like to look at pictures of myself when I was fat. It helps me to think that soon I could be even thinner and healthier then I am now.
