Hi. I have a tooth coming through for a long time. I am told that their is enough room for it. It has started playing up again and I am in pain and finding it difficult to eat. I am in a transition of starting a new job in another country and am trotting the globe right now. I don't have time to go do a dentist because I will miss my plane and ruin the whole itinery. Help! I hope I can speak when I get to my new employer on the other end!! Any suggestions? The last time I was given an antibiotic i think but cant remember the name.

OIL OF CLOVE. PUT A TINY BIT ON A COTTON BUD AND RUB IT AROUND THE SORE AREA, IT TASTES YUK BUT IS VERY GOOD AT NUMBING TOOTH PAIN. I AM IN A GREAT DEAL OF PAIN TOO AT THE MOMENT WITH A WISDOM TOOTH, IT NOW HAS AN ABCESS ON IT. LUCKILY I SEE THE DENTIST ON WEDNESDAY ANYWAYS. HONESTLY THE PAIN HAS BEEN SO BAD IT'S BEEN WAKING ME THROUGH THE NIGHT. SO I'VE BEEN TAKING IBUPROFEN AND A DAB OF OIL OF CLOVE. BEEN MAGIC AND HELPED ME SLEEP.

this same thing just happened to me and its actually both.. because your wisdom teeth ar starting to come in and have probably broken some skin which has inabled food to get trap and is causing an infection. Mine got so bad and I just kept trying to take advil and ignore it thinking it was just sore gums that when it got to the point where i couldn't stand it anymore that when i called and told an oral surgian what was going on, he told me to come in that day and removed my wisdom teeth. the dentist could just give you antibiotics for the infection but really the best thing to do is just go ahead and get those wisdom teeth pulled cause you could get another infection. As of waiting until monday- take about 4 advils you aren't going to overdose as long as you still wait 4 hours to take more. and dont let the medicine wear off. every for hours take more meds casue if it wears of you know its gonna be hurtin still! also just load up on the ambisall. oh and rinse with luke warm salt water

Start using Hot salty mouth was (tastes horrible but works well) and try see ideally a dentist or a doctor for a prescription, most likely will give you Amoxycillin (penicillin based) or Metronidazole antibiotics. as for pain killers Ibuprofen based are the best (as long as you aint asthmatic) if severe pain you can take paracetamol and ibuprofen at alternate times, eg every 2 hours
paracetamol at 1pm, ibprofen at 3pm paracetamol at 5pm etc

one thing i would say is DO NOT put clove oil near it!!! this only burns the gum!!

I just had a wisdom out for a abscess i had last Thursdays, i was put on Amoxicilin first on 250mg for a week then 500mg week as i left it too long it spread in my mouth . I did not have my tooth took out for not having enough room as i had my back teeth taken out for this reason when i was very young, but the antibiotic are the ones that will get rid of the infection for the abscess that was very painful..

as long as you are not allergic to penicillin you can take amoxicillin. as for painkillers you can take ibuprofen and cocodamol. one thing if the pain is really bad you can take 2 ibuprofen then 4 hours later 2 cocodamol and alternate like that but take no more than 6 of each in 24 hours. are you in the U.K.? If so go on the NHS direct website they found me a dentist.

its hard to say what antibiotic a dentist would give you because its based on alot of things ...ie: previous medical history....age....allergies...severity of the pain/illness and pregnany....if you cant get to the dentist try get hold of sum ibuprofen (antiinflammatorys) as u cant get antibiotics legally anywhere else...oooooh and you could try oil of cloves as well...put som of the liquid onto a cotton bud and brush around and ova the affected tooth and gum area it will sting but works fine... when you get bk go to the dentist !!!!

the usual antibiotics that are prescribed for these problems are erythomicin as long as you are not allergic to penacillin you can also use over the counter pain killers such as paracetamol and ibaprofen at 2 hourly intervals to help ease the pain whilst using erythomicin i hope this solves your problem

Metronidazole (aka "Flagyl").
Take 400mg three times a day but no alcohol whilst taking.
Best thing is hot salty mouthwash or chlorhexidine mouthwash.
