The orthodontist never told us this, but my friend was. I know about fizzy drinks, etc etc.

Anything with sugar (including fruit and fruit juices) can cause cavities. Orange juice is also very acidic, which makes you that much more likely to get cavities. My suggestion is that you drink a little water (or brush your teeth) after you drink OJ or eat anything sweet.

Okay, I have had braces for over 2 years now and during this lovely journey I have realised that you can basically eat or drink ANYTHING you want. They just try to scare you at the beginning. If you eat anything hard or very chewy, just be careful. The main worries are popcorn and biting into thick, hard chocolate. The only worry with orange juice is that it dyes your elastics a yellowish colour, which is the same with mustard (horrible!) and curry. If they get really bad you can always go in and get them changed.

Anyway, take it slow until you are used to the feel of your braces and remember to at least rinse with water after eating or drinking anything sugary.

I had braces and was told not to eat this or that, but it never stopped me! Orange juice shouldnt be a problem, just try to make sure there is no added sugar or anything.

Depends on the acidity. Orange juice can be very acidic, so it's bad for your teeth. If you want to drink orange juice very badly, then dilute it with water. Depending on how much you dilute it, this will neutralize the orange juice, therefore making it less risky for your dental health.

No, especially orange juice with bits in it. It can be murder cleaning your braces when you have orange bits on them. I would recommend drinking diluted orange juice or just water.

Sure- it's fine. Like anything that you eat or drink that could potentially "attack" your teeth-- just be sure to brush your teeth or at least rinse your mouth with water often.
