After our traditional engagement and registry marriage in UK, I was to return to my home country.

My fiancée (she) gave me gift, a wrist watch and a teddy bear. When I reached home, my fiancée (she) text me that did you like the watch & teddy, and I replied, yes I liked them very much.

Thereafter my sister was surprise to tell/ask me that, what is this? I said a teddy bear. My sister said no, it’s not a teddy, it is a Dog.

I saw/check it again carefully the face and it was really look like puppy/dog looks.

Can anyone tell me why she (fiancée) did that to me?? And what does Dog means/bring into the relationship???

If you both thought it was a teddy bear, then what is the problem?

She must have thought it was a bear, too, since she said "teddy". I think someone may be trying to make you doubt your fiance by making this sound worse than it is.

''The dog symbolizes many things including guidance, protection, loyalty, faithfulness, watchfulness and the hunt. In Native American Cultures the dog represents protection and loyalty. Also the dog is one of the twelve signs of the Chinese zodiac, here meaning loyal, steadfast, persistent in adversity and sensitive to feelings.''

This web entry is the only one that I could find with the meanings that I have seen (prior to this) relating to dogs. I studied art appreciation in college, and the meaning of the symbolism was the same. It seems as if the dog may have been a better gift, symbolically, than a bear.

BTW - Congrats on your recent marriage! I hope that you both have many, many happy years together!

be glad it's still a stuffed animal and not a real dog. Honestly, I don't think there's a big difference in the meaning between a toy dog and a teddy bear. Maybe she just thought it was cute.

Don't overanalyze things. You'll make yourself crazy.

A dog symbolizes Fidelity, Loyalty and Love.
To give this as a present to bridegroom is physical representation of those qualities in the real world in cute furry form.

You are kidding me, right? You want to make something out of a stuff animal that was given to you in love? What the hell is wrong with your head? If you need to have problems to survive in life, surely there are more pressing issues you can find. IF not, I want to trade places with you. Get real!

Well it means nothing in UK tradition. Well except that she wanted to give you a gift. Just be happy to get it.
