I have a good one too!

Q -- Can you give me a straight answer to this question? I have asked many
people and everyone seems to "him and haw". My question is -----
" What colour of skin did the man known as Jesus Christ have ? "
A -- No problem ! I can answer you. Your answer in one word "Brown" !
All the people on this planet Earth are descendants from the first couple -
Adam and Eve. We are ALL just shades of that same colour !
Hold a sheet of Real White and Real Black paper up against your skin.
I can tell you "for certain" that your skin colour matches neither of these
paper colour samples. We are all "off white - or - BROWN !
WE ARE ALL OF THE SAME COLOUR because we are all indeed
descendants of that couple. Because of protective pigmentation we
are of different shades indeed.
What a beautiful example of how OUR MAKER designed us and built
a protective system into our skins to protect us from the suns rays !
Few people realize that The Bible does not say anything in opposition to
what is referred to as "mixed marriages". This is precisely why.
If "mixed marriages" do not work in our society, as it is today, it is because
of the arrogance of man. To "prove" superiority they often use gross
misinterpretations of Bible passages or misapply a Bible passage to
make it look like it proves them correct.

First I want to say I agree with "whynotaskdon" he makes alot of good points. But also, as stated there were no cameras back then and even though there were paintings done none were done of Jesus, I believe that is because we are to believe on the perfect man that died for our sins, it Does Not matter what he looked like. The second picture you posted may be far fetched but for those who believe in a kind ,gentle, self sacrificing man, it can touch you. I have also heard that Jesus was not a very handsome man. That was probably so women did not lust after him. He had a job to do.One I am glad that I did not have to fulfill. I cannot imagine the pain that Christ went through on the cross when He died for every sin present, past and future. With that to his credit why worry over petty things like what he looked like. I guess there is no end to the madness to try and undoe the love of our Lord Jesus Christ. Good luck to you. I will not judge you that is for christ himself.

Sure. I don't know if He wore that particular headgear, but He was a Semite, therefore with tendencies toward olive skin to begin with, who lived in a very sunny place. He was probably nearly black from all that sunshine!
I don't have any pictures of Him on my wall because I think it's no accident that we are not told in Scripture what He looks like. If He is really who He said He was, then it probably is a violation of the Second Commandment to make images of Him, especially if we try to claim that 'this is what He looked like.'
BTW The Roman Catholic Church numbers the Commandments differently from the Protestant churches, combining No. 1 and No. 2 ('You shall have no other gods before me,' and 'You shall not make any graven images'), and then dividing No. 10 into two commandments (so that 'You shall not covet your neighbor's wife' is a separate commandment from 'You shall not covet your neighbor's ox, nor his ***, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, etc. nor anything that is your neighbor's.'
It is not difficult to see why, given the presence of statues and pictures of saints, Jesus and even God the Father (I kid you not - a stained glass window in a certain Franciscan church near where I live).
Quite frankly, with due respect, I cannot for the life of me understand the difference between these images and the graven images mentioned in the Second Commandment...

Very good! You are enlightening some who at least try to open their minds a bit. But here 's another...Jesus was okay but how about the Goddess? Why not put her picture on the wall? I have many in my home, a Pagan home that is. So many have false ideas of Paganism. But many of us are just peaceful loving people who like harmony and balance. We don't worship Jesus (and really don't worship the Goddess either I just say that to piss off the fundies..a little evil fun on my part) but usually think he was probably an okay guy.

Unfortunately, local churches present the image of Jesus that will not offend the congregation. In churches that teach persecution of the Jews it would hardly be politically correct for the pastor to have a picture of Jesus handing in the sanctuary depicting him as a Jew. Confuse runs deep in the Christian church, as it does in all religions. The focus should never be on the physical form of Jesus, but upon his spiritual nature, which is God. Arguing about what color he was in his earthly form is stupid because it has nothing to do with why he came to earth, which was to pay for our sins. People love to get into useless discussions about the man Jesus, and this is just another ploy of the devil to divert attention from the real issue---Christ came to pay the price for our sins and assist us in our spiritual warfare with the devil. Jesus loves you.

It would be hard to be light-skinned from there! :-) People just want to picture what they're comfortable with... I don't think those who have the old pictures are sinners though, just behind... Truly, I think God himself would laugh that everyone takes it so seriously... Even that shows prejudice... Should it matter what he looked like? No, as he wouldn't be superficial... Lack of education isn't a sin!

I don't think anyone alive today really knows what Jesus looked like. Jesus hasn't been on the earth for about 2000 years now.

Wow, sonny, you're deep.
Jesus was a middle eastern Jewish man... but since he was supposedly the son of God, he could have looked like anything if you really want to get technical...
(ie: maybe he did look nordic, maybe he looked african, maybe he looked asian, maybe he was a midget, maybe he looked like Jabba the Hut... The photographic technology of the time was severely lacking.)
PS, not only am I an athiest, I'm also so bored and lonely that I have to go after Christians to entertain myself! That's pretty cool right? right?

That's sadly true, but they won't be considered false idols if we worship Him and not the little statue or whatever! They are just a reminder; you are right He probably doesn't look anyhting like the "western" likeness made up but we'll know it's him on judgement day!

Of course I realize that. Neither are you. No one is totally white. I have no icons of Jesus hanging on my wall thank you. Also there was nothing comely about Him.http://education.yahoo.com/reference/dictionary/entry/comely Just click and you will find the definition of comely. According to your theories of evolution we all came from Africa, so what does that tell you?
