why is it when ever you first wake up you always have to go pee?

Your kidneys are working constantly. During the day you empty your bladder constantly. It just fills up with no release until you empty it again (or have a bed wetting accident).

because you've been sleeping for long enough for food & drink to be processed by your body, ergo has to be released at the earliest convenience (waking up)

It's so you have something to do immediately after waking up, enabling your mind to wake up also...
