would you be willing to accept treatment or a cure knowing that it was obtained from embryonic research or tissue. This is mainly a question for pro-life people..

Guess what I wouldn't and I have type 1 diabetes with renal complications. But I think many of you were confused I was talking about research creating embryo's for use or using aborted fetuses. Not adult stem cells, or cord blood.

my son has type 1 diabetes, and would greatly be helped by this treatment, but I would never want him to have it, because I don't think someone should have to die so he wouldn't have to take a shot each day... a life is much more precious.
they say that a fetus isn't a baby, however 25 hours after conception, there is a heartbeat, which justifys LIFE.
they also don't tell these people that once they have this treatment they will have to take a large amount of anti-rejection drugs which will eventually shut down their liver. just like transplant patients have ruined other vital organs by accepting the new organ and then the anti-rejection drugs ruined their liver and other organs.

First of all, I love your questions, they are thought provoking. This, of course, is a hot topic. Some would say that because abortion is legal you can't stop it from happening; why not take something you believe is bad (abortion) and make something good out of it? The retort to this is then wouldn't some people then just get pregnant and abort the child so they can further research into whatever disease they need cured...slippery slope idea.

However, abortion IS already legal, so, someone could already get pregnant, have an abortion and donate the remains to embryonic research. So, I'm still for turning something really ugly into something positive.

Even if/when abortion is illegal, natural abortion happens (assume no one "forces" a natural abortion), couldn't we still do research of the remains are donated to science by the parents?

Look within yourself, pray, and ask for a loving answer. You will find your path. I thought a little longer on this one. If someone makes bad lemons, why not grab them and make good lemonade? Good luck, this is a tough one.

Creating an embryo so that it can be destroyed for the harvesting of stem cells is the same as aborting a fetus for spare parts.

The typical evangelical Christian believes that life begins at conception. If you destroy that life, especially one that is completely helpless, it is tantamount to murder.

The funny thing about embryonic stem cell research is that there is nothing that shows it to be better than cord blood or adult stem cell treatments.

So no, I would not accept a treatment involving embryonic stem cells.

Considering I'm in that boat, I would do it without a second thought. A lot of modern medicine has come from some nasty sources in the beginning. We don't questions those now. This source is LESS vile than some of what came from the experiments the Nazis' did in WWII but we use those results.

I don't think I could because everything happens for a reason. I believe that embryonic research isn't really where we should be going, just like cloning.

Of course and so would the hypocrites who claim to be pro-life, just look at Nancy Reagan and how quickly she changed her opinion of stem cells once she had to start changing crappy diapers.

Yes. I suport the testing of stem cells. There are many cells that are in that catagory that are disposed of after natural child birth that do not hurt the child.
