Need help!using window NT,how to change from wordpad to ms word?

Wordpad and MS Word are two different applications.

This is a bit foggy as it is different in NT than 2000 and XP.

Here is one way that should work.

Click on a .DOC file ONCE just to highlight it.
Hold down the SHIFT key and RIGHT CLICK the DOC file you highlighted.
There should be a listing now for OPEN WITH
Select OPEN WITH and LEFT CLICK
You can now pick MS Word. There should be a check box to ALWAYS USE THIS SELECTION or similar.
