My boxer is 5 months old. Hes acting like his tail is hurting or iching. Is this normal? I looked at and looks good. He didnt eat all of his morning meal.
Will the hair ever grow over the end of it.
Thanks

i`m sure he is fine.my boxers also get ichy tails but there is nothing wrong with them.i have raised boxers for over 15 years and have always had thier tails docked before 1 week old.the scar tissue will not grow hair.do try to keep an eye on his ears and tail for fly bites but otherwise he will be fine.if he chews on his tail to the point of it getting raw, take him to the vet to see about allergies. good luck hun.

puppy tails should be docked when they are about 3 to 5 days old it make it easier on the pup.The hair probably will not grow back because they didn't cut the bone in the tail short enough for the skin to cover it and now it's scar tissue.

They get done at 3-5 days!!! At 6 weeks I have no idea how they did it!!! If they did a crappy job or did the rubber band thing, it may look bald on the end forever. That is why they are done at 3-5 days when the bone is still soft. By 6 weeks it requires anesthesia. So I doubt a vet did it. The "breeders" sound like winners!!!!!

There's probably nothing wrong with his tail. He probably needs his anal glands expressed - there are two little sacks inside that fill with fluid and the pressure makes him uncomfortable. Take him to the vet about every six months to have them squeeze the fluid out - it shouldn't cost much to do it.
The hair won't grow back, because the person who docked it, did it too late and left a scar.

The hair's not going to grow over the end. It's got scar tissue there. If he's not eating well or acting strangely you should take him to his vet. Good luck.

it is normal till he gets used to it its because of the dry skin left over....yes most of the hair will grow back.
