Why doesn't Yahoo Answers combine "Myths and folklore" with 'Religion and Spirituality"?

I agree with your point. Many myths are actually some person's religion either now or in the past.

The problem is that labeling something a myth carries the connotation that it is untrue. Religion does not hold that same connotation.

Perhaps one reason they are separate is that Yahoo did not want to offend people by placing religion and myths in the same category.

Greek mythology, norse mythology, and egyption mythology were once religions.

If all or most of the adherents die perhaps some of the religions today will someday be listed as mythology.

Perhaps some scientific facts that we believe today will be disproven and we will put them in the category of folklore. You could argue that the science category should belong in the folklore section by your very same argument.

The idea that everything is composed of 4 elements (earth fire wind water) was once consider science. Now it is considered folklore.

Mythology and folklore is a category that people place subjects that are mostly fantasy right now. Science and religion deserve their own topics. At least until the believers die away.

For the same reason they don't include Darwin in Myths and folklore. Not because it doesn't belong, but to make it easier to to find questions.

Because regardless of what some of us may think of religion, the majority of the world separates the two categories.

huh?

Myths & folklore have nothing to do with religions & spirituality.

Religions & spirituality take enough place in life, needless to give them more!

Myths & folklore are "sacred", so they must not be mixed with religions & spirituality.

Because people disagree on whether or not there is a difference. Even college curriculum separates these two categories.

Because the two categories are understood by most people as being different.

people put sh** in the wrong catergories anyways, so why not have one big catergory. It's either they're too stupid, or just plain lazy, maybe even both.

Careful, some fanatics will kill you (or condemn you to hell) if you don't believe their fairytale.
