I am white. In 1976 I married a Black man. (Yeah. I know--that was back in the prehistoric past, right?)
Our basic belief was: anyone who has a problem with it is someone we wouldn't want to be friends with anyway. But sometimes people were just so blatant with their racism: they yell things at us, give us the finger, threaten us, etc. I never could figure out why anyone else cared what WE did with our lives. (I wouldn't have been interested in any of those creeps anyway, and I'm not some gorgeous model-type that the "hecklers" would want to be with...)
If everyone would just mind their own business................but, if that were the case there'd be peace on earth, wouldn't there?
My hubby and I were blessed with supportive families, and we stayed married for over 20 years. Our break-up had nothing to do with our color--just regular "cheating" stuff. We still "love" and respect each other. We have two children (one white, who was about 6 when we met, and he raised her like his own), the other is biracial. We have FIVE biracial grandchildren, and they are all very well-adjusted (well, at least as far as their ethnicity goes. I'm not sure if ANY of the family is well-adjusted mentally. [joke..haha])

I feel great about it! I really don't mind interracial dating. I think its beautiful when people can express their feelings and not bow to the status que placed on us by society. People forget and so it seems, there isn't what they would describe a "problem" with this situation, They choose not to address it, well the "problem" is people being color blind, to the specifics of the word, BLIND TO THE COLORS AROUND YOU. They are unwilling to accept them and hence they are not there or you are blind to them. I don't believe in color blindness, its ignorance, it needs to change, be aware of the wonderous variety around you and accept it. I Think its extremly interesting to learn about other people's ways of life. I think its really sad that people of any race can simply 'dis' others becuase they are of any color.

I am actually in the same situation... my boyfriend is white and I am black. Many people are ignorant and haven't grown with the times. I think that it is a shame, because love is blind and it does not choose love by racial standards. Just don't let it get to you!

well, I believe is because of the interracial marriage laws that were made a long time ago, even if laws do change and approve of it, sociaty is still blindfolded. It's like gay marriage, if the law ever passes not everyone would agree with it!
