Separation anxiety.

1 - you should go to a puppy class at a good training school. It's worth the money. Trust me.

2 - if you go get her breakfast or dinner while she's whimpering and then give her her food, then you are rearding her for the worst bad behavior there is. So undoing that will take a bit more time than usual.

Lots of treats and rewards.. treats meaning small pieces of treats or her dog food.. one by one..

she is on other side of gate. you look at her and say "yes" and give her a treat.

Back up 3 feet. Wait 3 seconds, then come back to her and say "Yes" and give her a treat.

Back up 5 feet. Wait 3 seconds, then come back to her and say "yes" and giv her a treat.

Go 5 feet first day, 10 ft next, etc.

If she starts whimpering, turn around and ignore her.. as LONG as it takes for her to shut up. DO NOT LOOK at her, or come near her until she shuts up. Soon as she's quiet, wait a minute for more quiet, and then come back, say "quiet" a pause, and "yes" and giver her a treat - actually give her a few treats - from your hand - one, then another, then another, and another.

If this doesn't work, give me a shout and I'll give you other exercises that you can try.

WHENVER SHE WINES OR YELPS OR ANYTHING to get your attention.. you NEED TO IGNORE HER. It's hard to do. And ignoring means no looking at her or physical contact. This includes family, kids, friends, neighbors.. EVERYBODY. It's the hardest part.. training the people!

EVERYthing she does needs to be because you approve of it. If she whimpers and you come to her and say.. aww poor wittle puppy.. you are rewarding her for bad behavior.

If she jumps on you, turn around and ignore her.

When you play tug o war with her, don't let her take the toy away. You always have the last word. You can give her the toy as a reward to play with.. but if you've been pulling and playing, you take the toy and you put it up out of her sight on the last round.

Get in control - or the puppy will be in control :)

Gee - is it a Jack Russell Terrier? Or a Chihuahua? Or a Yorkie? Or another of the yappy little Toy Dogs?
Stay in the pen with her until she does her business - and praise her when she does. She can't understand your invisible rules about how she gets to come out and play. She's frustrated and wants to be with you, so she barks.

Better do some training before the dog has YOU completely trained!Read some great books on training. (Try not to pick books randomly - there are a lot of bad books out there also!) These are some of my favorites and you can get them on Amazon.com

The puppy just wants attention. Try to ignore it for awhile but if that doesn't work make sure the puppy feels safe, has had food, has fresh water, and has something to do, like a toy to play with. Lastly you may just need to give the puppy more attention. Animals need lots of attention and love. They are also pack animals so they don't like to be alone. Spend more time with the puppy.

It seems to me that your pup has a behavioural problem. However, do not need to worry she is a puppy afterall.
On contrary, you should take her for a walk/ball chasing etc. There is a myth that small pup/breed dog doesnt need exercise. However, exercise/walking/playing proves to release negative energy and settle your puppy down.
You could try using water spray when she is yapping for a start. When she stops..give her treats! Give her toys like chewing or stuffed- Kong in meantime with treats inside so she would occupy her time better.

She doesn't understand yet and all she can think is that she is being separated from the person she loves! I would stand in there with her until she gets used to it, that will calm her down. But don't pay her any attention or it will reward her for the barking behavior. Wait until she is done doing whatever you want her to do and then give her lots of praise!

Not sure I understand the question, but be patient and try to show her what you want. She probably thinks she's being abandoned.
