To maximize any exercise routine you have to vary it. For instance ride at a comfortable rate, then really put the power to your pedal for about 2 minutes; then slow down again. If you are walking, try for 4 minute mile. Walk at a normal pace, then walk as fast as you can for a couple of minutes. What this will do is rev up your metabolish so when you are finished with your exercise, your body is still burning up the fat. I would vary my routine also. Ride your bike one day, walk the next.

I wondered the same thing.
Supposedly, "interval training" is the best way to lose stubborn fat according to an article that I have read (See the answer from "sassy_old_broad" above me).
An interval is where you really raise you heart rate for a short stretch (by pedaling as hard as you can for about 1 minute -- preferably uphill) and then pedaling slowly for another minute (do not stop) to catch your breath. Keep alternating like this between fast and slow until you are worn out, or else you have had enough.
See your doctor first. Do not give yourself a heart attack.

You body is probably converting body fat into muscle, so you may not see much weight loss initially. Are you noticing your cloth fitting better? Since muscle is denser than fat, it takes up less space an you may be getting thinner (and more importantly healthier) but not necessary losing much weight yet.
Keep at it and make sure to drink plenty of water. Your body needs the water to metabolize the stored body fat.
