Yes. I sound like a chicken being molested by the neighbors goat. But I still do it when I'm driving down the road. It makes me feel good.

In my opinion, singing is both a skill and a talent, just like sports or writing or painting. The talent part is either there, or it isn't. However, the skill part involves a lot of practice and technique. There are certainly cases where someone has damaged vocal cords or is actually tone deaf (they can't translate the notes they hear into notes they sing.) But, if you don't have either of these problems, you can probably learn to sing. Depending on your natural talent, you may never be a pop icon, but if your willing to work, I don't see why you couldn't have a lot of fun participating in a church choir or local singing group or even just Karaoke.

Try starting with a vocal technique book from the library. If you think it interests you, you could look into private voice lessons. A professional voice teacher could also probably tell you what your potential is.

Yes, there are people who are tone deaf and just can't year the tones. On the other hand when people are taught singing from their early childhood, most people can carry a tune to some extent. It used to be that children were taught in school or church. Acapella (without instrument) makes for the best singers. But if you love it and can't, just sing in the shower or bath to yourself, and then just enjoy the singing of others in public.

if you were introduced to music and singing at an early age it is second nature a pre-teen. Dont let the the phrase " tone deaf" scare you. it just means that you have to practice listening to note more closely before atempting to. Anyone who is "tone deaf" can sing just like a professional with practice. Having a piano or keyboard around can also be handy. Just singing period will help. Especially in harmoney 2 or more part

Can you carry a tune? Are you tone deaf? To find out the answers to these questions get the music CD. A program that allows you to sing along to a recorded track on the CD while the computer screen shows you graphically if you are hitting the notes correctly, singing too loud, to low, etc.

I'm a musician and i teach music as well. Sometimes people ask me to teach'em how to sing or to play music, but i believe that playing music or singing is not the kind of thing that everybody can do. Being talented is the most important thing. So if ur not talented to perform, why not being a good listener to ur fav artists? or all kinds of performers....at least u'll gain some kind of experience that should make u qualified to tell a good perfomer from a wonna-be or a looser. :) god bless

I believe that there is hope for everybody.

My cousin was tone deaf and could not hold a tune.
He started practising here and there when we rehearsed in a garage band and now (15 years later) he can now sing. Not great by any means but I can now recognise the songs.

Keep singing and good luck.

In My opinion,

Some people cannot sing... Because they are tone deaf, or because of serious conditions in their vocal chords.

Some people with the adequate ear training and voice lessons can improve a little bit. Some People can't.

I honestly think that everyone can sing. Having the right technique makes all the difference in the world and accepting your own voice allows you to open yourself up to actually singing.

It all begins with the correct breathing. Breathing from the diagraphm should help you immensly. What you hear in your head is different from what other people hear.

Yes I am sorry to tell you this, but some people just can't sing. Ever watch American Idol? The first auditions? Yeah. There's the answer to your question.
