Immigration: racist or reality.?

Without having people jump on the 'you racist' band wagon, isn't it about time something was done about immigration, legal and illegal. This country I would say is heading for disaster, where are we going to put everybody, you cannot over populate an island. Our green and pleasant land is rapidly disappearing, our beautiful countryside will be gobbled by more housing estates to accomodate more outsiders, just look at our rapidly disappearing school sports fields, what next, green belt areas? inner city parks? National Parks even. The south east of England can't supply water for an expanding population. More Welsh valleys, even Scottish glens, maybe even parts of the lake district will have to be flooded for water supply. It's time to say enough is enough. Let's preserve our beautiful country and heritage, as they say,'once it's gone, it's gone'

People go on about how immigration for the last 2,000 years has forged this country, I agree, Look what the Romans gave us, the great Celts, the Anglo Saxons and of course the Normans, we are what we are because of these GREAT powers who invaded us, followed by immigration and made us what we are today. They're influence made this small island one of the greatest powers in the world. We led, the rest of the world followed. Unfortunately, I don't see the latest immigrants having the same desired effect somehow. Not racist, just realistic. Sorry for sounding patriotic, I know it's not the done thing these days.

I don't think you're being racist, just realist. You're quite right as an island we only have a finite amount of space to expand to. As you say long before we run out of places to build new houses our infrastructure can't cope and nor can our ability to feed ourselves, we end up borrowing more and more to but things we can no longer supply ourselves with and in a short while we become the thrid world country that people are trying to get away from.
Historically speaking we are seeing now the same seeds that were being sown in Germany pre-Hitler and the same seeds that have pre-dated so many other civil wars both in the past and now around the world.

Please don't apologise for feeling patriotic. There isn't much of it about. Of course, all this immigration, is utterly ridiculous. There are people out there (anarchists) who are deliberately trying to destroy this country.

You spoke about immigration in the past. But the Normans were the last significant immigrants into this country, and that was centuries ago. At that time, the country was still forming and developing. However, those immigrants weren't invited, people tend to forget that. We have become, over the centuries, the homoginised Britains that you see today.

So, we all agree that what the government is doing is insane, so why is it doing it? Particularly, when you consider that it has never sought a mandate on the subject from the British people.

I think there should be a record kept of all those who agree with uncontrolled immigration, then we will no wh to blame when the crap hits the fan.

I don't object to immigration what I do object to is that they come in to this country and then are given benefits, health care and housing etc and this is then given to them for ever, there should be a system in place that they must learn the language and laws of the land and take up paid employment within a certain time or benefits stopped or reduced this is not racist because it happens in other countries and the people accept it as fact and follow the rules of that land, This would then ensure that only genuine people made the journey here in the first place and would want to pay something back to the country that has given them a safe refuge.

REALITY. Where is the fairness? I live in an area populated by many immigrants that don't work. I'm not going to get all clever about it and talk about the past. I want to talk about the present. There are many where I live that do absolutely F all, they have many kids, live off my and everyone else's hard earned money and don't bother to integrate. We are having to pay for translators in schools (I worked in one where they had a translator because the parents can't be bothered to learn our language). They've just bulldozed more buildings to make way for new council houses and it's a real shame. Call me racist (although I'm not - have many friends from different races) but I don't care. I'm fed up with being slated for supporting my country. It's all gone too PC makes me want to throw up. It makes everyone I know bloody angry to have to struggle to get by - that is what is bothering most of the British. Why should these people who have never paid National Insurance in their lives have a free ride? It's a disgrace. And for the fact we ARE a small country and we CANNOT COPE no matter what anyone says. Ok, let's all settle in their home countries and there'd soon be an outcry.

Wow, you are so right, somthing does need to be done about immigration, what i say is we open the borders and let more people in. England is required to tak a percentage of asylam seekers inacordance with EU regulations, and to be fair we take in a much smaller percent than most of europe, not to mention the majority of peiople who come to england get sent back. Its sick.

What the hell gives me more right to live in the piece of land we call England just because i was born here? nothing, it is the biggest piece of bull arond. lets not forget that this country was built on immigration, not one person living on this island can truly say they are 100% british, due to the fact that we have been invaded so many times in the past and each time this countyr got better and greater, now why do you want to stop that from happening in the future?

Oh and as for the water, England is not in the middle of a water shortage, only the south, The north has far more water than they need, but there is not the pipes to bring it down in to the south. and lets not forget that the water companys have let the water storage and the pipe leak because they are too worried about their profits and dont fix things. what the govenment need to do is take back water, and then they can fix things without worring about profits.

Well, it's interesting that some of the same conservative forces in America who oppose immigration from the overpopulated countries, also opposed UN funding of birth control. You can't have it both ways. The pressure is building up from world overpopulation.

Maybe we should be stepping up efforts to teach birth control, including the distribution of condums, educating people about various measures on what's available and their side-effects.

Some visionaries such as Peter K. Dick and William Gibson forsee the utilization of such forgotten spaces as those under highway overpasses, on bridges, and along subway tunnels. The homeless are already pioneering such life measures. This will increasingly become viable options as other options become more competitive and expensive.

I am so glad that this forum exists. We can see that immigration is a huge problem for not only the US. Europe is on the brink of civil destruction because they can't control the flow of middle eastern and African immigrants. It is a problem for all of the western world. We are so afraid to be labeled racists that we remain silent as we watch thousands of years of history, art and culture be erased from our lands. Simply put the US and Europe share common values. The wave of immigrants feel no sense of gratitude or obligation to become new Brits, Americans, French, Germans or Dutch. They want what we have built over centuries but want to remain true to the culture of their birth-lands. We must start to demand that the Immigrants "like it, or leave it". We should never have to make exceptions for their cultural ways if they are in our countries. What should we do? Give up? We think it is bad in the US because of the millions of Mexicans but I really am afraid for Europe. Our biggest problem with the Mexicans is that they don't want to assimilate to the American culture and speak the language. At least we have a judeo-christian foundation of faith that we share. In europe, The Muslim immigrants want to destroy western civilization. Europe is the most beautiful, culturally rich place in the world and Y'all should unite on this issue and save yourselves and the world from destruction.

Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorists attacks on London, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Brits.

However, the dust from the attacks has barely settled and the "politically correct" crowd begin complaining about the possibility that our patriotism is offending others.

I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to Britain. However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand. This idea of London being a multicultural centre for community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Britons, we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle. This culture has been developed over Centuries of wars, struggles, trials and victories fought by the untold masses of men and women who laid down any one of the millions of men and women who have sought freedom. We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language, Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language! "In God We Trust" is our National Motto. This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan.

We adopted this motto because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture. If St. George's Cross offends you, or you don't like "A Fair Go", then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet.

We are happy with our culture and have NO desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from. This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our National Motto, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you to take advantage of one other great British freedom, "THE RIGHT TO LEAVE".

If you arn't happy here then f#@* off!! We didn't force you to come here.

I moved to California only because my only family was transferred out there. I had to find myself a job, and after two years I finally got one. Oh, before you say hooray, there is only one problem, I only make half of what I made from where I came from. Oh there are jobs out there if you want min. wage and it is due to the fact that these illegal aliens will work for nothing, so in order to compete with them you must work for peanuts too.
Because I learned that if I asked for a decent wage, I was turned down flat. But ask for only the min. wage and you are in like Flinn. So you tell me if the state of the economy is so great, then why are there so many people working for these meager wages? And capitol hill couldn't care less about raising the min wage. Why should they when the rich can keep it all by hiring illegal aliens.

The sad fact is immigrants have and will continue to flood here as you can get free health treatment for you and yours from our underfunded overstretched health service, you will get free housing, fully furnished with all you need and more all new stuff even TV's and free TV licence (we have to wait and see if we reach 75 before they waive this) we will also pay to get your windows cleaned, need a car just say you feel scared to walk the streets you think people are talking about you, as you or any of your family cant and dont want to speak english, hey presto a nice big cheque for a car even if you dont have a licence, council tax, electricity, gas and water bills the council will not put you on expensive meters like the rest of the poor brits putting them further and further in the poverty trap!
If you are a muslim HSBC bank will offer you special interest free motgages to buy council and housing assosiation homes (of which there is a great shortage),
and use your right to buy discounts as deposits, so you can buy our homes with out putting a penny down!
Get free fertility treatment on demand at £2700 a time getting seen 3 times quicker than us, and if your claim for asylum gets rejected part wat through treatment they must be able to stay untill treatment is complete, hey presto you got a kid with english nationality, some are doing just as an excuse to stay here!!
goverment are trying to push through tax breaks for muslim men for up to 4 wives, even though this is illegal for everybody else!
Our children will soon have to use the islamic blessing 'peace be upon him' after the muslim prophet mohammed every time they write his name in religious education or history lessons, this is to help swing votes and to appease those that want sharia laws in Britain!!
