Religion is not a theory, it is a practical part of human life since the beginning of humankind. Let me define for you what religion---any religion---is. Religion is a system of legal precepts that the adherents must follow. Itis like the American constitution---if you want to be an American, then you must follow the rules laid out in the constitution, else you need to go somewhere else to live that suits you. Religions have diffcult and demanding rules to follow, all of which lead to what they believe to be salvation. The problem with any religion is that it is created by humans and humans are selfish and fallable. Any religion will always favor the desires of its leaders and this is where the breakdown occurs. The moral precepts of the Bible are truths baqsed upon the person of Jesus Christ, who is God. He is infallable. These truths are not ideas, but are litterally Christ himself. The Bible says that in the beginning was the Word and that the Word was God and that the Word was made flesh---Jesus Christ (John chapter 1). The truth of God is eternal and applies to all times and all peoples. the changes in the world do not affect the Word of God because God is unchangeable. Without the guidance of the Holy Scriptures and without a personal relationship with Jesus Christ we cannot live lives of moral correctness---the devil who is our advesary will not allow it. Temptation is in our way every step of every day, and it yeilding to temptation that will cause us to fall morally. You cannot resist the devil on your own---he is too smart and too powerful for you. this is why we have Jesus as our advocate. Christianity is not about following rules and regulation; it is about having a one-on-one relationship with Jesus Christ. Jesus loves you and wants to protect and guide you and he wants to provide for you. Trust him and he will never fail you. Trust the world and your life will end miserably. Your own best efforts at life will get you killed.

God doesn't need you to believe in Him. He exists as much as you do, whther people believe you exist or not.

Does it matter or will it make any difference whether someone calls you Chris, or Yusuf or Krishna? You'll remain being whatever your real name is, isn't it? So why should God be different?

Religion is actually just a guideline on how you should live a good life and contribute to Society. It's people who make "Religion" a reason for conflict.

Look at the Moslems. The Pakis went to England as refugees claiming the Hindus wouldslaughter them if they went to India. Looking at the large Moslem population in India, we know how false this is.

Today, the Pakis are the most unpopular people in England and they've even bombed the people who gave them shelter when they needed it, in the name of Islam!?

You can see a lot of Moslems jerking off even here about Christianity and their attack of 9/11 isn't forgotten yet.

Well, what you need to do is have common sense. If you piss off the rest of the world with your fanaticism, you've got to be prepared to have all of them turn against you, someday.

You can't expect the World to keep on turning the other cheek!

You don't have to believe.

Some people find it helpful, and we live in a post-modern world where we know that nothing is proveable or certain (not even our own existence), so it's less ludicrious to believe in God and miracles and such during this post-modern age. I do agree that the most useful thing about any faith-based system is that (at its best) it helps people be better people. But just like you pointed out that the world keeps changing, it's currently changing to a view that is starting to value spirituality over "fact".

Try taking an intro to Philosophy class when you get in to college and you'll learn about what I'm talking about it. And you might want to take some kind of writing/composition class too so people can take your questions more seriously.

All religion is man made it all makes the same claim that it comes from God. This claim is partially true but people can never stand to leave Gods word alone. This is because god’s word is consistent and does not mesh well with their personal preconceptions and bigoted ideas. So they make little changes here and there injecting their thoughts into the mix tainting the word with nonsense. For this reason you should not put much faith in these ideas about god that come from others. If God wants to tell you something He is perfectly capable of telling you directly.

Maybe you should stop reading what other people say about God and ask him to tell you what he wants you to do directly. Stop reading; clear you mind and listen. When you pray get you’re talking over as soon as possible and listen. He is trying to talk to you but your mind is full of nonsense from the bible and other sources. Don’t be surprised if what you hear does not sound much like what you have been told about God. You will be hearing Gods message minus the nonsense.

In your bible study have you ever heard of the small still voice? You can't hear it if your mind is otherwise occupied with other people’s silly ideas about God. Just try it you will be surprised

Your questions are valid. Religion arose because people wish to understand the mechanisms by which things happen. Before the advent of science, there was no good way to appraise which proposed mechanisms worked and which didn't; many things were assumed to arise from some sort of divine intervention because there was no way of coming up with a better answer. Now, of course, there is, and religion as an explanation of anything is obsolete. That does not make it valueless: if you enjoy the sense of purpose and community which a religion may offer, there is nothing wrong in participating as long as you keep your beliefs (and your actions based on them) limited to things that can be demonstrated as factual.

Well! first of all what you have in mind would be true if you were the creator of yourself but look at you and the surroundings around, can you create them by your hand ? do you have that power ? can you control the funtunction of your body ? can you live in this world without air and water ? can you survive in this world without yeilding anything from the soil when you sow seeds for your grains ? where were you before a hundred years ?The list does nt end here and the answer is NO we cant or we dont know. WHY because this is bestowed to us by our creator, all this is a gift to us to survive in this world, our life itself is a gift to us. So this same creator has created you and has asked you to worship and have faith in him alone in this life, now should nt you think its our first priority to obey HIM, should we be so selffish that we take all that is given to us and in return not do anything of what GOD has asked us to do. I think we will be called the most selfish people on earth in this case because just sit and think what all has been created for we human on this earth, its amazing, marvellous and superiority and all this was created only in a span of 6 days.Yes we can choose to live our lines with morals and dignity being virtous and kind, but we are humans and tend to go wrong in every step, ofcourse even satan is there to divert us from the good path always, this is what he has promised, so GOD has Written down all this in scriptures to help us, following which we will be good, kind and not only virtuous but will also be rewarded by our lord after the Judgment is over. And what do you think the scriptures tell us, to follow all the good qualities which will keep us on tract perfectly well, but if you dont obey this then there are a lot more chances of the satan interfering into your life to make it all the worst for you, so brother pls read and follow and be on the right path because this is what we are going to take with us for the hereafter nothing else. Neither our bank balance nor any single thing in this world will accompany us in the grave, its just we and our deeds. So prepare before its too late as the life after death is based on the good and bad deed of this world. Read the translation of the HOLY QURAN it has many things which will make you understand why you should follow this scripture..Goodluck

the question you asked first is the real question

is it ture

if it is true, then you should believe it
it doesn't matter how long ago people started believing it
it doesn't matter if you think you should live your life according you your morality

what matters is truth, actual fact

if the actual fact is that a real God in heaven is actually there and has told you how to be happy through scripture, then you should believe it and follow it

if no God exists or if one exists but hasn't provided mankind with any advice, you you do the best you can

of course, someone else may think it is moral and good to enslave someone like you, if there is no actual true basis for morality, then each person's idea of morality is as good as anyone elses

if you want to be moral, you must find out what is true

if to put it very short. It is not a theory propogated 1000 of years before. It is more like physical laws. I bet you will hardly understand Newton or Einstein but laws they found work. Try to read those authors, their original works. How much would u understand? But u trust them. The same with scriptures they are not understandable but they work, if you care to pay attention to what's going on in the world. Probably morale is things are not supposed to be easy and understandable, it is rather matter choice, effort and the higher will.

Jesus lived His life as an example for us to follow. That is our guideline. The Bible has stood the test of time coming through the ages. It was all but lost in the dark ages. Can you tell me any other books that has stood? http://education.yahoo.com/reference/dictionary/entry/theory Read about the Vikings.http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/ancient/vikings/religion_06.shtml This will explain the paganism also. All are influenced by Christianity today.

its the beliefs of the beginning. how do you believe the world came to a start? i believe the scriptures are true and i personally believe th bible and catholicism and christianity. you dont need to follow line by line with scriptures. you are right, you just need to have morals and be kind and stuff. religion is how you believe the world began and which bible you believe. religion is who you worship and devote your life to (not like a spouse type devote, like a spirituality type devote) and believe their words(bibles). you dont need a religion if you dont believe any of it. but if you really think about it, you can possibly choose one. once you do, try joining a church to help you stay believein. hope this helps!
