Smoking is bad but alcoholism is much worst. How much do you think it cost in terms of dollars and emotional distress as the result of alcohol abuse. How many are killed or maimed on the freeways daily as the result of DUI. How many people are killed or maimed in domestic violence as the result of alcohol? How much do the legal and medical cost amount to as the result of alcohol? Too much of the "refreshing" beer could get you as drunk as drinking liquor or wine. Smoking could affect one's health in the long run but driving while drunk with alcohol could wipe your very existence immediately.

All of the things that you described are a result of people's behavior and abuse of alcohol, not the result of normal and intended use of alcohol. Conversely, normal and intended use of tobacco is proven to kill you and those around you.
You can enjoy alcohol and not suffer any ill effects. Every time you enjoy tobacco you do suffer ill effects, and so do those who happen to be around you.
Let's be totally clear on this, I am all about smokers rights. If you want to smoke 50 packs a day, I'm all for it. The amount of regulation and persecution is ridiculous. That being said, your argument is a little ridiculous, too.
You are saying that society condones drinking, and then by your statement you also go on to infer that society condones domestic violence and drunk driving...at least much more than seeing someone light up a cigarette. I'm not sure how you could seriously think that, but ok. If you really do know people that condone drunk driving and getting smashed and beating up your wife and kids, then I honestly feel very sorry for you. You must live around some real winners.

because smoking screws w/ everyone around u no matter what...yes alcohol can be dangerous but it usually has to be combined w/ something else like a car or gun or machinery, ect. and the person therefore can choose not to add those things to the mix.
2 people siting around 1 having a drink the other smoking, the 1 drinking is not hurting anyone around him and is no going to unless he chooses to add 1 of the dangerous items to the situation. while the 1 smoking is, the second he lights up

becuase the alchohol and tabbaco companies make all the money in this country on our idiocy. No us humans cant have a good time without drinking aparently and no were not responsible enough to drive home after.. maybe if people were more educated and thier parents werent alchoholics wed realize it dose nothing but kill you and others and stop. aparently thats not going to happen so in the mean time you can smoke or drink it dosent money ur death goes into the pockets of the same companies. Why do people smoke? i dont get it, lets just get addicted to something cuz its "cool" stupid friggen people

jkk.. you rock! can't say much more than you did..
My Niece is 10. She has bad asthma and a smokers cough. Her dad does not even smoke inside the house, yet she still suffers the ill effect of his addiction. If he was to drink socially like he does smoke, he would never even come close to the legal limit. No danger would come from that.. but because he chose to smoke instead my niece is damaged for life.

Please understand that when you smoke you are producing something bad you are sharing with everyone around you. Also, you are tossing the butt away, which contains more poison than the smoke did. Then you are also showing children that it is "okay" to smoke. Studies have shown that drinking alcoholic beverages responsibly and moderately can be good for some people, but no part of smoking is good for you.

Smoking does not have the political clout that the liquor industry does,also when you take a drink you don't exhale smoke into the atmosphere like when you smoke a cigarette.

Because Congress is made up of old men who love to drink. Take their stoggies away or make them go outside to smoke them is one thing but take their booze away and watch them freak. I agree with you, booze kills more and hurts tons more then smoking does. Guess what gets me is how many years TV & everyone pushed how "Cool" it was to smoke. Get us hooked then say " Oh it is bad,nasty habit, quit now!"

Alcohol related disease costs us ten times more that smoking related disease. Hillary neglected to tell her robots that, for some reason.

Actually, I read somewhere the if acohol was invented today that it would not fit into FDA standards and would not be seen as fit for human consumption. It was grandfathered in. Personally, I see the stuff as something that makes you do stupid things that you dont remember in the morning, and that makes you sick. Whee, that sounds like fun.
