Soldiers are like us - pawns of the military-industrial complex. They're just closer to the action.

Nah, they are no more stooges than anyone else. Soldiers all have various different reasons for joining the military. Some are patriotic, some do it for money and job training some do it just because they need direction in life. Soldiers like everyone else are doing their job. Their boss gives them an order and so they do it just like everyone else in this country which is of course what makes this a great place to live. You seem as if you are angry at soldiers for following orders. How many things on a daily basis do you because you are expected to do by a boss or someone else but do not want to do. I think the military industrial complex does exist and like any other economic venture wants to make as much money as possible and does things to ensure this. This makes it no different than the agricultural industrial complex, the media industrial complex, or any other of the hundreds of industrial complexes that make up the modern economic world. We are all complicit in going along to get by.

Soldiers over all are stooges. They are dumb as rocks. Do they ever think for themselves? Heck No!! But that's the way the military must be. It's like this. stupid people stay in. Smart people get out after 4 years. The smartest? People who go to college and stay away from the Military.

The term "military-industrial complex" was first used by President Eisenhower during a time of relative peace. Look up his speeches on the net, and see what he actually meant.

If you refer to soldiers as "stooges", you haven't talked to one lately. The term "military-industrial complex" doesn't apply to the job they are doing.

And downward budget pressure has taken a huge amount of the problem of the "military-industrial complex" and made it go away.

Considering that soldiers test the equipment , and that in most cases Military contractors have field agents and liaisons. Yes soldiers are part of the equation.

The one thing this article does not point out is that at the end of the yearly contract, each company employee goes through an evaluation. The evaluation is done by military personnel.

I'd have to say stooges. What else would make someone want to travel to another country for no reason and possibly loose their life or come home to find that the Who's the biggest stooge contest was going on & their the grand prize winner.

I think it would be a good idea to sit down and talk with a soldier.
You might be suprised on who they are, what they know, and how much they have seen. They are not stooges nor are they "brainwashed", they are individuals just like you and your friends . Most know more about life than your average man, because they have experienced the worst and best of mankind, times, and different countries. No Soldier goes out to fight for politics , money, fame , glory, and definitely not for "rich men". LOL They do it for eachother, they do it for their families and friends back home, and they also do it for their fellow Americans , even the ones that dont support them or understand them. When you visit another country , you soon realize how good we have it , when you see how children have to grow up in some of these places you realize how lucky we are. You have to see these things with your own eyes. Our poorest , homeless, and disabled have it 30 times better than most in alot of countries. War never makes sense and is a horrible ordeal, unfortunately there are alot of sick and twisted individuals out there. What I mean by that is there are alot of people in foreign lands who hurt their own people, starve them , kill them, and this is mostly women, children, and elderly. They also tell them when it is ok to go to the bathroom, what to wear, when they can stand up, and when they can no longer live. It might not be our business , it also might not be against Americans, and it also might be thousands of miles away from our soil. But who is to say that in 5,10, or maybe 15 years from now they decide to attack us . They have before, and it wont be the last time. So then there are times when America calls on its sons and daughters to help out innocent people , ( just because they are not American dont you think they deserve the right to live or even have basic human rights?) and also to stop something that could eventually end up hurting or even killing someone you love or know. Soldiers have seen this with their own eyes , they have shed blood , lost their brothers, have experienced a child hug them and telling them thankyou (its a feeling like no other when you make that kind of difference in someone's life) so to take that away from them , saying they are stooges or doing it for oil, or for a rich politician is a slap in the face and is absurd. Have you ever noticed in the news that 99% of the news reported even in your home town is negative, like how many times do you turn the t.v. on and see rape, robbery, murder, car wrecks, and kidnappings ( all of the time) because people like to hear about it , it intrigues them . No one wants to hear about a guy doing a good job at work and taking care of his family and helping his neighbors. Same as what you see on the news overseas involving soldiers. MSNBC has turned their cameras off when soldiers rescued a family being held by insurgents when the soldiers were able to get it done without firing a single shot and there were no casualties on either side. Why you ask? because no one died it wont make a story back home nobody cares. Dont believe everything you see or hear on t.v. Ask somebody that was there, someone that has seen it with their own eyes. Ask a soldier about their family, their friends, their brothers in arms, they are the same as anyone else . They like do the same thing as you and me. Soldiers are good people , they are experienced in life of all sorts .

HOW DARE YOU? Just because you are to much of a coward to go in the military, you have no right to ridicule those who do. Without our military saving your sorry butt by fighting for our freedom, you would probably be dead or in some kind of camp as a prisoner. I have 2 children in the military and a son-in-law fighting in Iraq. WHY? Again, to save your sorry butt and let us have our freedom. It's people like you that I would love to see fight in Iraq. Then let's see what you say. You make me sick

Are you sure that this 'military-industrial complex' even exists?

Or are you just using a term you do not know the meaning of?

stooges but then again so is everyone else. ...in my opinion civilians are considered cannon fodder as well, both in other countries as well as right here in the states.
