The most convincing argument I've heard is the change of climate in Africa, which reduced the amount of forested land and opened more savanna; this put pressure on those creatures requiring forest to survive. But, the newly-opening grasslands opened a niche for a new species to thrive.

Humans did not branch off from apes. Nor did humans have a common ancestor with apes.
Y'know, if "evolution" were true, then why would humans be the only species that has cognitive awareness and the ability to interact? How come there's not a family of bears that got a house outside of Chicago--they're not too bright, dad works at the steel mill and mom provides daycare for the locals. Their son is on the high school football team, he struggles academically but is all-state on the offensive line. The only reason he's not a running back is becaue he doesn't have an opposible thumb and keeps dropping the ball...

In a true Darwinian concept Human form was just one of many mutations. some survived and some died out based on the new structures ability to survive.
I would be very careful being so sure in something that science has not been able to prove. In fact they are closer to proving there is an inteligent designer then they are to proving the ape to man connection.

Humans and apes branched off from a common ancestor because each had certain survival advantages over the ancestor. In the case of humans, it was the ability to reason out ways to avoid threats and enhance survival. An exelllent account may be found in the reference.

One day a monkey swinging on a vine fell to the ground after the vine broke. After being chased by a nearby lion he learned to walk on two feet. He then went back with his increased speed and stabbed the lion through his heart with a spear and ate his fill. He took the leftover lion meat and made burgers which he cooked and sold to the other monkeys. He realized that if he went back up into the vines - there was no profit in this. So, he stayed on the ground and became man.

We didn't branch off from apes. We had a common ancestor. Some of them adapted to the conditions and became the ancestors of humans while the others stayed as they were and became apes and monkeys.

Same reason all mammals evolved from rats.
Same reason birds evolved from reptiles.
Same reason amphibians evolved from fish.
Random mutations and natural selection.
Did you know as a two week old fetus you had gills and a tail?
And the three bones in your ear are from ancient fish gills?
Actually, chimpanzee and human genes are 99% identical.
The two major characteristics that distinguish us are the human ability to make tools and use language.

No, it didn't. We may have some physical similarities - but man was created as man, apes as apes, fish as fish, etc.
Man was created with a spirit that animals do not have - the ability to reason, speak, etc.
God in his wisdom created the order we know - we have dominion over the animals and are not one of them, and never have been.

when a population is isolated from the main group, those that are by chance are adapted to best live their survive and reproduce.this is what happened with humans.a group of Ramipithecus(our possible ancestor)was isolated from the rest, and the ones that survived passed their mutation to their offspring.
look if your all just gonna say"it didn't happen cause evolution didn't happen"just don't answer!!!!

Perhaps the apes were glad to be rid of us, so they planned the whole thing.
And, you're right... it DID happen... it hasn't been a friggin' THEORY for over one hundred... but the religious right hasn't figure that fact out yet.
