Well, it's not really a secret, but it involves serious thought and hard work so many never find it. The way to happiness is different for each individual, it depends on what things make you happy. For an example I will list some things that many people say give them happiness and then what they would have to do to achieve it.

Have lots of money: research jobs or businesses that pay well, see what skills are necessary to succeed in the one you choose, get yourself educated and acquire those skills, and work hard to be the best you can be in that field.

Have loving family and friends: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. This means you have to be a loving friend and family member to others, ie.. remove greed, predjudice, hate, envy, etc from your life and actually be interested in caring and supporting them.(tall order for most people).

Marry a beautiful loving spouse: Don't let being alone push you into trying to make a relationship work with someone you don't feel is ideal for you. Could require years of searching to find someone who you feel is both beautiful and loving and also thinks the same of you. (most settle for first available that seems to want to stay with them)

I could list a lot more but don't want to get boring and I think you get the idea.

To be happy you must decide the things that make you that way. Then find out how it can be accomplished(the thinking). And then you must put forth the required effort(the hard work), to make it happen.

P.S. One of the things that brings me happiness is trying to make people around me happy. Once you think about it and realize what makes you happy then that is your own personal, secret to happiness. Best of luck discovering what it is.

You must make it a goal in life. If you don't make it a goal, you will not achieve it.

Hapiness is the ability to appreciate 3 things fully, who you are, what you have, and life the way it now.

1. Who you are.... You must realize that there is no such thing as being perfect, and don't compare yourself to others. Do you think cows in the field look at each other as think well that cow has better utters than me???? NO! Humans make up all kinds of crazy standards. You are fine just the way you are.

2. What you have.... you have many blessings. Appreciate them, and when things are hard, appreciate them even more. Life could be worse.

3. Life the way it RIGHT NOW: Do not play the "I'll be happy when game." You will live a long misearble life. Even if life is hard at the moment, you can still be happy (trust me on this one...I'm currently facing the most painful time in my life right now (my mom just passed away), yet I am still happy.

Here's how they "I'll be happy when" game goes....

Let's start in high school....
I'll be happy when I get a car
I'll be happy when I get a better car
I'll be happy when I get into to college
I'll be happy when I graduate
I'll be happy when I get a job
I'll be happy when I get a better job
I'll be happy when I go to grad school
I'll be happy when I get out of grad school and earn a lot money
I'll be happy when I get married
I'll be happy when I get divorced
I'll be happy when I retire
etc etc...
up until you ask the old man shuffling around with a walker "Are you happy?" And he replies with..." I'll be happy when I die"

Do you want to live your life this way?

Make happiness a goal. Cherish the good time, and hold on to good memories. That makes a huge difference.

There's no secret to happiness--it's there for everybody! All it takes is to realize that you're part of the All, the Universe, the Great Spirit, the One. What you call it isn't important. What is is to realize that you're never really alone if you recognize the connection that you have with everything else.

Don't focus on what you can get from Life, but what you can give. Of course, you have a need to maintain this mortal body into which you were born, but your individuality is like a single cell in the body of God/Goddess, as is everything that lives. All of those cells add up to the whole--know that you're a part of the All--share that connection with everyone/everything else, and even if that single cell dies, your being will be forever. We are truly immortal and exist in love if we allow it to be so.

Happiness can be a very elusive quality. Why don't we talk rather in terms of balance and serenity?

I also think that happiness is not something to be searched for directly. Happiness is in my view the result of things you do and of your posture in life. It is a consequence rather than an objective. Or, if you prefer, it is a way, a road, rather than a destination.

I think we can talk about things we need to be alive and well.

First thing we need is physical health. Even if you didn't have a healthy childhood or didn't inherit good genes from your parents, there's a lot you can for your own health with the help of a proper diet, enough exercise and enough rest.

Second thing: we need to able to provide for ourselves. This is difficult in a world that is quickly changing and doesn't always reward your gifts and efforts. But everyone should try to get the best education available, study hard, prepare themselves for a career, and do as best as they can. Wealth is not necessary, but it's hard to be happy with an empty stomach and a roofless bed. Just make your life as simple as it could be, but don't try to live from hand to mouth.

Third thing, your mind or soul. Be true to yourself, but also try to balance your inner life. Stay in the middle. Be intelligently optmistic, respectful of different points of view, and accept the ups and downs of life, the inevitability of old age, loss and death. But don't let this thought make your present-day life seem gloomy. Learn to observe and admire nature, read the ancient authors on philosophy and wisdom, and keep an ongoing interest in the world around you. Don't be fooled into thinking that all is waste, chaos and evil. The world is made up of everything. If you don't know what your precise role is, try to do your best at the task at hand. Don't regret your mistakes too long. Just try to learn with them and not repeat what first went wrong.

I think that this is a way for you to achieve serenity, which feels better than happiness.

I will agree with the first answer: Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ is not fictitious. I've just wrote a book called 'The Hidden Secrets of the Ancient Scrolls' and its coming out next week. It scientifically proves God created the universe and the earth with loads of evidence - very suprising!
