Two pastors go to Duke Divinity at the same time and take the same classes and graduate with their M. Div. with honors. One goes and becomes a fundamentalist preacher and one becomes a MCC pastor. They both preach on Sodom and Gomorah on the same Sunday in the same town. The first Preaches that the text is about the sin of homosexuality and the second preaches that the text is about the lack of welcome and the hardened heart.

Who is right?

Neither of them are preaching anything but their preconceptions and their fears.

The world is a product of our ideas about it. Each of us sees the world we believe in in our minds. God works the same way. Someone who sees the idea of a loving God sees a loving world.

Someone who sees a judgmental God, sees a god that fears what he fears and judges exactly the way he Judges, he will see a god that finds fault in the exact same places that he does. The world that they live in will be filled with these things and people that need judging. This could also be used interchangibly as a definition of a bigot.

Love and blessings.

Think of Sodom and Gomorah and think of the world today. Which is more sinful? In Sodom and Gomorah days there was little if any use allowed of the Bible, there were few places to worship, prophets or disciples had to travel great distances to hear the Gospel. In today's world most homes have 3 Bibles, there is some kind of place to worship most anywhere you look, a lot of churches have a pastor and several associate pastors to deliver the message.

Now, which do you see as more sinful Sodom and Gomorah or the world today? I don't have any problem as seeing the world today as the most sinful.

the message of the Bible is simply to point out that there are those things which if we believe them to be real will lead us to believe that we are separate from each other and from "god". In this "separate" state we can come to depend on the opinions of these "separate" others as to what is the way we should take back to unity.

as we never actually were (or are) separated from the whole this can lead us on a long and, apparently, painful journey. if we find the true self the journey becomes one of enjoying the here and now, not struggling with questions of right and wrong, good and bad, better and worse.

never mind the pastors you are already exactly where you need to be -- JUST STAND STILL.

Neither.
They should have gone to the Word of GOD and asked for wisdom and understanding. Its free you know. For the asking.
Too many people put religion before GOD, that's their mistake.
Also, you did not give enough information to make a credible answer so you got this from me.><>

They are both right!

They just tackle one sins to another. Sodom and Gomorrah is a sins city, therefore you can find all kinds and type of sins you can think of.

Sounds like I would prefer the second preacher, though neither one is my style.

They take different views on the subject. Two different angles, and I think it is up to the people that are listening as to what they should believe.
