Does she color her hair all the time? Maybe blowdry it? Those are two ways hair grows brittle.

She needs to condition it with every wash (and probably wash it less often). Wella has some great conditioners but one of my favorites is the apricot conditioner by Schwarzkopf. You leave it in your clean, towel-dried hair for 3 minutes and then rinse it out. It leaves hair sleek and over time, healthier.

Hi, tell your mom not to blow dry her hair every day, it is drying it out and helping to make it brittle... one thing that is helpful is to deep condition her hair at the ends, at least twice a month. There are some great products available, but if you are frugal like me, use a bit of good ole mayonnaise or Miracle Whip from your fridge... it is great! The eggs, oil and vinegar are good for hair... you can also use a diluted vinegar, lemon or beer rinse to finish and the hair will be shiny! This is not crazy, I am a hairstylist /retired....

yes I am 47 and have long hair they have many expense conditioners out there all I do is shampoo and condition it and a couple times a week use a intense therapy conditioner nothing fancy when I get out of the shower I take a very small amount of regular conditioner and put it on my ends and rub it on the back middle part of my head my hair looks healthy and not frizzy and I am happy. And it doesn't cost an arm and a leg!

She needs to quit blowdrying the brittle ends.

The only way to repair the ends is... you can't. She needs to cut them off adn start fresh. Some meds she's on for her IBS/UC may be causign birttleness, too. So maybe she just should not grow long hair. Keep it a med. length.
