It depends on their personalities and how the 28mo old adjusts to having a new sister. It would be too hard to say at this stage and there are advantages (like each having company at night) and disadvantages (each keeping the other up all night!) to sharing a room but I think it's one of those things that you will just figure out in time. Go with the flow. And congratulations.

I have two boys, ages 11 and 9. They started sharing a room when they were little and still do. I have a daughter, age 10 months and am pregnant (due in Jan. 2007). No matter what the sex of this baby is they will have to share a room, too as we only have a 3 bedroom house and have no plans on moving anytime soon. We have a pretty big bassinet that we keep in our bedroom that was used for our daughter until she was 6 months old. I nursed her and that was convenient for me plus once she was 3 months old she slept through the night in it. We will do the same with this baby, keeping him/her in our room until 6 months or so. That will also give our daughter time to get used to a bed and still having the crib in her room. We will also try letting the baby take naps in there during the day when our daughter takes naps to get an idea how that will work and get the baby used to the crib.
Best of luck and congratulations!

For now it is a good idea to keep them in the same room. The older sister will feel that she has an importance to the baby, and it will help her in her mothering instincts to see and learn things at a young age. Of course, you need to make sure that both girls are protected from harming each other by accidentally removing the baby from her bed, but that generally isn't an issue. It will be good for the baby also because she will feel that she has the support of your older daughter when she hears a bump in the night. As they grow older, you might want to think about different rooms, but for now, rest assured, they will be very supportive to each other!!

It really depends on how often the new baby will be waking up at night and if it will conflict with the older ones sleeping. Also, when they are older, it would be best to give them their own rooms because kids have their own personalities and they may want things done differently in their room.

i have 2 daughters that share a room and I think it is very good for them
while growing up i shared a room with my sister, we are a year and a half apart in age and we are best friends, have always been
i am not saying they won't fight, fighting is to be expected, but sisters that share a bedroom learn to share earlier and become better adults, i believe

I think sharing a room would be okay...if you have an extra room you could make it the toy room.

it should be ok as long as the baby is in a crib and the other daughter won't try to pull her sister out of her crib at night time.
