It is obvious you love your dog and giving him away is hurtful. I feel for you, but know that you are probably doing the best thing for your pet if you realize he has problems. You don't say what he did that made him 'go crazy' because this could be a very important issue in his new living conditions. The best ANSWER I can give you is to 1) contact your local animal control office. Explain your situation and exactly what your dog did to "go crazy". Let them know you cannot keep him, but want a good home for him. 2) Contact the local shelter and repeat the same. This is the sad part, but it is the truth - if your dog has some real problems with getting along with people, children, is hard to control, vicious, aggressive, etc. it will be difficult to place him. If you turn him over to the shelter and they cannot find a home for him, unfortunately, your dog may be euthanized. I really hate to tell you this, but I have to be honest with you - this is what you can expect and they will tell you also. Also check your local newpapers, or community magazines and see if there is anyone who might be willing to take him (have you contacted friends?) If your dog is dangerous - even being alone in his own 'house' in the back yard might not be good for him. All animals need love and attention. I hope things work out for you.

Hmmm..this is an interesting question to me, because when I get a dog, I will feel the same way. The best think I can think of, is to give your dog plenty of attention, especially if it is the only dog in the back yard. I feel like a single dog may get lonely with no other dogs to play with, but since he probably feels like you are part of his pack, then he would like it if you spent more time with him. I also would bathe him often, maybe get him a little kiddie swimming pool? And keep him regular with fresh tic and flea collars and tic and flea powder, or whatever you think best.

I just saw a dog show, and I think it was a border collie that I saw. I never saw a dog as pretty as that one..he was SO clean..his black coat was so clean and his white coat was so white!! It was an amazing look. I never realized how good dogs look that are so clean, and I'll bet they feel so much better, as long as the shampoo doesn't bother them.

Well hunny I think u should give the dog away. I know u dont want too but if the dog is growling at everybody and attacking dogs he has to go. Because its only a matter of time that he will attack one of u guys. Its dangerous to have a dog like that. I cant answer why he is like that but I suggest u call a humane socity near u to ask why he is acting like that.

Please excuse me before I answer all your questions, have you really train your dogs well or bring the "crazy" one to the vet or learn from others how to let him behave well? Any owners whose dogs do not behave well, sorry to say partly the blame is on the owner. And what I think, if you really love your own dogs, you won't give it away cos it went "crazy" (as maybe his behavior turn up not to be what you want, as the other one you having behaved well). I will encourage you to pick up books or search the website to know more about dogs, if you really like dog or you really like your own dog, you definitely will do that for him.
Teaching a dog is kinda same way of teaching a child, and dogs are like human, they can be teach or learn new things regardless how old they are.
Both of the dogs will feel sad or lonely after they're separated, please watch over the dog that you're keeping, it's behavior might change, and it might show no appetite, depressed, restless etc. (Dogs have feeling too and they can sense what you about going to do, dun feel surprises!)
It not easy that someone will want a "crazy" dog. I’ll encourage you to give to someone who is well experienced with dog to train him again. Firstly if you going to give it away, please check with that person face to face, whether any experiences in dog; the person character and his family member; the person lifestyle; his/her house whether spacious enough to keep dog and the environment around his/her living area.

You should first consider taking him to the vet, to see if there is some type of neurological problem or any other unseen problem. If he has "gone crazy", and you take him to the pound or the humane society, it is likely that he will not be adopted, and he'll be euthanized.
It may just be that you need to consider some obedience training.
But, I would first go to vet, to make sure that he isn't acting up because he's in pain or has some other type of problem. When dogs are hurting on the inside (from anything), it's hard for them to express that to you, so they might just do things that appear to be "crazy."
I hope this helps, and best of luck to you and your doggie.

Whoa, settle down. I can answer your ?. I have one puppy dog who is two years old, and he is a Shetland Sheepdog, miniature Shelty. I have spoiled him so badly, that he thinks he's a people dog. I love him so much, but I also think that spoiling a dog is hard on yourself, next time you spoil your dog, bond more at least 20-30 minutes a day, and you should both be happy campers!
