There is no medical proof that it will help any mental disorder. Adding a drug that in itself can cause mental problems does not make sense.

I would think that it would depend on the type and severity of the disorder, whether or not they are on medication, etc. etc. I don't think that much gets by the doctors who deal with mental disorders and sometimes multiple drug addictions all the time. If the doctor determines that medical marijuana is the better choice over pills for a particular disorder then I don't see anything wrong with it. I do agree that for people that suffer chronic pain it is a good alternative but then again it does not work for everyone and the decision should be left to the doctor and patient to work out the best solution. There are also mental disorders that cannot be cured and the person will have to be medicated for life so if marijuana is a better alternative I don't think it is any different than prescribing it for someone who lives with chronic pain.
Marijuana gets allot of bad press because the drug companies don't want any competition and want to eliminate or control get control of anything that might really work without major side effects. In fact they promote prescription drugs of every variety that have a laundry list of side effects including death in TV commercials, magazine ads and billboards, 24/7. I would even go so far as to say there are more people addicted to presciption drugs that are more dangerous. Why don't they declare war on prescription drugs? It's all about control and money.

Can you document your sources? "Mary Jane" has NEVER been shown to "hide" symptoms of mental disorder(s),as a matter of fact, case studies have shown that those high on weed tend to be more upfront about conditions such as depression, anxiety disorders,Oppositional Defiance Disorders(ODD) et al.,when in a clinical setting.
As to the the "legal" aspect(s) of marijuana,LEGALIZE it under the following "conditions"
1.Adults 18+ in the confines of their own homes
2.Keep it away from minors.
3.Stiff fines for possession/use of it while operating a motor vehicle.
4.NO government control or taxing of it.
5.NO consuming it in PUBLIC places.
6.Stiff fines for sale/distribution of LARGE amounts.
7.MANDATORY jail time for selling it to minors.

People with mental disorders should avoid all drugs and alcohol, because they mess with the brain chemistry. Marijuana is not "harmless." It screws with neurotransmitters the same way that alcohol, heroin, cocaine, etc, do.
I don't believe that doctors prescribe marijuana for mental disorders. If any do, then THEY have a disorder.

I seriously doubt that marijuana can treat any mental disorder that is a true mental disorder, ie, serious enough to disrupt a person's ability to function normally.

Marijuana. I used it in my past. Most of the time, I found it to be enjoyable and if were legal, chances are I would use it again. A truer arguement though, would be, that it is less harmful than alcohol. I;ve known people too stoned to drive. I never met anyone that thought they were too drunk to drive.

I actually did not know that it was legal in CA. I do not believe that it should be legal b/c it causes more problems that it solves - including people w/chronic pain. They simply get addicted to it, want more and more, run out of money to buy it and then resort to stealing to make the money b/c they are unable to get a job.

I think it's bad. you loose your brain cells, and even though some people think that pot never killed anybody, it may have. Smoking causes lung cancer, so anything a person smokes may do it, even pot.

I have issues and smoke marijuana. I love it. Makes me feel so relaxed and I'm in my happy place. Even if I was not "nuts", I'd still be smoking maryjane.
