YOur first step would be to contact your local job center. I know, it's not what you're thinking, but trust me, it's the best start. They see people everyday who don't have the skills needed for jobs they have available, but hey, they've got the funding to send you to school to GET those skills. Explain the situation to them and tell them you want to go back to school. They can hook you up with local and state agencies that will help you find funding or grants especially fopr mom's who want to go back to work. Your income should get you into one of the programs. Look on your State's website to see it they have something under adult education. Keep in mind, no matter where you go they always offer free CNA courses, which then gets you a job. THEN you can get a medtech (paid for by work) and make more $$$$. From there to an LPN (PAID FOR BY WORK) and finaly an RN. Just an example. We have a program in Maine for any Lobsterman's or fisherman's wife or spouse to go back to school to help support the familyl. I know there should be something that can help you. Good luck!

I am an at home mom as well. In June, I began taking classes at a local community college. The best way I have found to get financial aid is to first locate the college and then apply for aid on the web site WWW.FAFSA.ED.GOV It is a free site, so if you get on the one that wants money it is the wrong one. You can apply there. That is what I used to get my financial aid. My family is rather large, and with only one income we really struggle. I got aid with no problem. Good Luck to you and Congrats on going back to school.

Go to the local college and to their career center. You may or may not be able to get in, but it's worth a shot. They will have very large books of grants and scholarships (that don't need to be paid back) that especially include women just like you. Apply for as many as possible, but don't pay money for applications. Those are probably fake. Don't pay for services that "do it for you." The information is free somewhere.

Check with the college or trade school you wish to attend. They most likely have funding for low income individuals. Also check state funding, depending on the state you are in there may be a grant or scholarship for low income individuals wishing to raise their standards of living. If you take a certain amount of hours you may be eligible for FASFA, I am not sure of all the qualifications but you can go to http://www.fafsa.ed.gov
GOOD LUCK ...........

Get a job. Some companies like UPS have tuition reimbursement and they offer full time benefits for part time work. Or leech of society.
