My granddaughter was diagnosed with swimmer's ear. The ear drops she has gotten from the doctor doesn't seem to help the pain very much and the cost for them (prescription) was outrageous....We are also giving her Tylenol, Advil and Motrin...Any suggestions.......Please help!!!

Yeah actually i have the same problem. But i have a chronic ear condition so its kinda normal for me. I have these drops the doctor gave me that work wonders! I sware it takes minutes to feel an improvement and hours for it to be gone.I believe i only paid like 16.00 for the medication at the most it might be less. But you do need a prescription. The makers are Bausch & Lomb (yes they are for the ear) they are called neomycin and polymyxin B and hydrocortisone otic suspension. Please give them a try they are very good. Also make sure she keeps her ear dry at all times and to not pick at it! I was reading the other answers that you have gotten and to be honest i wouldnt put anything in her ear unless you told the dotor. Alcohol and hydrogen peroxide are actually bad for your ear .It can cause more problems. In my case because my ear was neglected when i was younger i ended up with a tumor and hearing loss.

Growing up, my aunt always put hydrogen peroxide in my ears to dry out the water. Warm it in the mircowave first (5-10 seconds) because if it is cold, it can hurt going in. Just pour in 1/2 capful and let sit for a couple of minutes, drain out. That always helps me.

Another old wivestale is to blow smoke in her ear. I have never tried that so I don't know if that will work.

Putting a hair dryer on the low setting and having it set to warm - is pure heaven!!!!! Thats feels lovely! Or have her lay on her side and place the infected ear on a warm towel- I heated it in the microwave for a few mins to get it nice and toasty!! Make sure she doesnt get anymore water in them so use cotton during baths and showers! Poor baby! Give her big hugs for me!!!
