the problem is that laptops are not designed to play games ,so they normally only come with on-board video and these are normally just the bare amount to play dvd,s ect
unfortunately video cards cannot be upgraded on laptops,so your only chance will be to update your video drivers,to find out your video drivers go start>control panel>display properties>set up>advanced>video adapter>properties>drivers>update driver
you will find the name of your video card in display properties,it will be above the resolution bar next to the name of your monitor
for drivers ,if ati go to https://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge&folderID=293,and for nvidia go to http://www.nvidia.com/page/home.html
you should also update your direct x files( a driver designed by microsoft needed to play games) from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.mspx,these files are needed to play the hobbit, the direct x version you are looking for is direct x 9.0c
good luck

no there is no file that you can download to make your graphics work with your game. The game by the sounds of it requires a high end graphics card with map texturing. only agp or pci video cards have that available. I have not yet heard of a laptop with that type of capabilities.

It isn't possible to upgrade the video "card" on laptops. That's why we don't use them to game on. The only way to game at all on a laptop is to buy one of the really expensive ones that has a high-end video section. Sorry!

Does it stop the game from running?
Anyway, there's usually a setup/configuration shortcut that will let you change the settings for the graphics.
