they are replacing it in late 2007. they are jumping on the "foreign bandwagon". Nissan revamped all their trucked (ie: tundra, frontier) by making them bigger. "The new "ranger" will be taller, wider, with a slightly bigger engine and will don a new, more rugid name". I read that in a motorworks magazine a couple months ago.

I WOULD NOT count them out. Maybe down, but not out. They are closing 1 of 2 plants that make Rangers and Mazda. I think NJ will still be open. Ford has an older design, and it has hurt sales since everyone else has "new, revised trucks over last 3 years". Ford also chose not to call their 4 door PU a Ranger (ie Sport trac), unlike other companies with their trucks. But tooling is paid for which makes them more profitable, gas is going up quickly (their smaller size may help) and Ford does not have alot of cash inflow to make major modifications to design. (Originally slated to be made bigger like Explorer around now, if I remember news from 2004)

That's right. Ford will cease production of the Ranger pickup two years from now. Its assembly plant in Minnesota will then close down for good. It's all in the news a few months ago, according to the company's restructuring program.

My Papa told me.." Never believe any thing you read..And only believe half of what you see."

Auto manufacturers like to keep things under wraps, that's why they have secret testing grounds.... and try to keep the Media out......ever see those pictures of cars in magazines with all the cars body covered.
Newspapers and magazines often don't have all the facts !

There will be a small pick-up available from Ford as long as there is a need & demand !

I doubt ford will stop making them. They are good cheap little reliable trucks. The smallest ford makes. Call ford though to make sure.
