Christians keep telling me I can't get round the "homosexuality is sin" thing no matter what I say I lose, actually I totally skip it because I don't follow Christianity so it has no jurisdiction over me...I must point out that even if Christianity was totally gay-friendly I would still not follow it because I do not see any truth or reality in Christianity... still there are gays who are Christians and the Christian view negatively affects the way all gays are treated.

Do you think I should not be concerned how my fellow gays who happen to be Christians are unreasonably treated and defamed by their church?

Is that so?...how about divorce and remarriage then.

I think you should expand your arguements to more than just the gay issue.

We've pretty much won that side of it. We've pretty much won the science side of it.

We both need to expand and diversify.

You should be concerned. It bothers me that Christians (or any religion) can pick and choose what religious text they want to accept and reject.
They hide behind the bible about the gay issue but somehow we understand that slavery for example is no longer acceptable in modern society. It's hypocritical I think. I respect the rights of Christians to worship and follow their beliefs but at the same time I resent any attempt to push those beliefs on others and into government. I also resent when they have not read the book (The Holy Bible) that their entire religion is based on but think they know what it is all about. For goodness sake if you are going to belong to a religion - read the manual so you know what it is all about. It makes no sense to me. Yes I know some read it but there are a good many that do not.

If your Christian and gay friends choose to stay in that faith, isn't it their choice to be treated the way they are treated. If you are not going to live your life according to the rules of the faith, you shouldn't deliberately make yourself a part of that faith and then be upset because it doesn't accept your lifestyle choice. If your friends are upset that most Christian faiths don't accept homosexuality, then they shouldn't go to those churches. How is that so hard? Why should the whole church change it's beliefs for one person that doesn't want to follow the rules? Should I claim to be an atheist and then get mad at the religion because I believe in God and they don't?

There is little that can be done about a church's theology. They follow the bible and unless you can wiggle your nose and make every christian gay or ever gay a christian, how can you believe you'll even have the slightest impact over the way people believe? Gays aren't christian, some just share similiar beliefs. What they need is they're own jesus so they can have their own religion. Just picture it, gay jesus at a club passing out condoms. He/She/It only has 4 condoms but everytime he reaches into his bag he pulls out 6 more.

it really is strictly between the clarification why my kin nevertheless isn't conscious that i'm an atheist. i'd in basic terms let them recognize, on each occasion they carry up the concern, that you do not favor to talk the concern because you don't like it to gas conflict. tell your kin that you adore them and comprehend their beliefs, yet that you've made your own cautioned decision after weighing all the information/execs & cons. in the experience that they persist, i'd in all likelihood in basic terms let them recognize that you're feeling such as you're being attacked and that you would a lot particularly concentration on your commonalities as a kin than your modifications in beliefs.

Personally I don't care any more what you think. The churches have the right to turn out any they think are a detriment to their teachings.
Christ says to come as you are.He in turn rebuilds from the inside out.Their is no requirement to attend church only to commune with other Christians.
I don't attend church because it does little for me.For those that need to attend they may also need to limit who attends with them that it does not lead them away from God.
In the end it is God who will decide who is in Christ and who is not.Your friends have bibles, then they should study. But they should not demand that the churches accept what the Bible contradicts. If they do they are not Christian.

Yes. I am a radical Christian and if gays are treated any different than liars, greedy people, gossippers, thiefs, molesters, adulterers, and all other sins that fall short of the glory of God, someone has a problem. They need to be taught that their sin is no different. Sin seperates us from God - that is the issue, not what our personal opinions are. We are called to UN Conditioionally love one another.

Linda: couldn't you find some quotes from publications from this century? The 70's were a long time ago.

Everything you wrote are the reasons I don't believe in or worship your god. You put it all so eloquently.
