It is used to make make paper, textiles, and plastics. It is present in the chemicals used to develop photographs. Cyanide salts are used in metallurgy for electroplating, metal cleaning, and removing gold from its ore. Cyanide gas is used to exterminate pests and vermin in ships and buildings. Cyanide is contained in cigarette smoke and the combustion.

Do be cautioned. Cyanide is a very poisonous chemical and exposure to high levels of cyanide harms the brain and heart, and may cause coma and death.

They used to use cyanide in the military way back in the day in case a solider was captured, he could take the cyanide pill and die rather then being tortured..not sure what they use it for now days..

it is a poison....that is all.....as far as i know it has no other applications...it is to most people odorless and tasteless.....though genetically a few do have the ability to smell it they say it smells a bit like almond.
