i am an engg student in doing my B.Tech in ECE....do i need to takethe GRE subject test for my MS program

It probably depends on the specific school so you should look into the application/admissions requirements of the programs to which you want to apply.

Well what subject test would you take? Math? CS? Physics? To the best of my knowledge there really isn't an "Engineering" GRE test, so there's not really a specific subject test you can take.

I'm in the exact same situation as you (Senior in ECE next year, planing on getting a MS). I'm planning on just taking the GRE general test, I've looked into a couple of schools I'll be applying for and I've only seen requirements for GRE general tests.

As Ladida said, it depends on the graduate school(s) you will be applying to. You could check out a sample of, say, 5 or 10 schools. See if most of them require it, and if that's the case then definately plan on taking the GRE.

Also ask a faculty member or advisor, or the ECE grad students at your own school for advice about it.
