If the answer really is dependent on the fact that you do not specify how many "what" - then this is not a riddle but the ramblings of a cretin. Only a four year old would word a question like that in real life. (I.e without an anaphoric reference to clarify the meaning.)
However I will assume you are not that simple and I will quietly wait to hear the real solution and to bow down to your witty and clever answer....

how many mice?? before any cat, man, woman, or chil make a move there are 266 mice
22humans and 24 cats and the man = 48 mice haters if every hater kills at least 6 mice in a couple of minuts there are no mice left:p
