This is how I found the reason to believe. Several years ago I had an unusual experience concerning an uncle, a distant relative who lived over a thousand miles away.
While driving my car I suddenly felt the unmistakable presence of this relative that I hardly even knew. He was more like someone I had heard about than someone I knew. It was very strange; it felt as though I was momentarily lifted right out of my physical body. I seemed to be suspended somehow beyond space and time, bathed in a love so intense It felt like I could have just disappear into it at any moment if It would have let me. It only lasted for a few seconds, but it seemed to last forever at the same time. I realize how crazy this must sound. The experience was so strong that at first I was afraid I was loosing my grip on reality. I finally managed to chalk it up to an over active imagination.
Three days later I got a call from my aunt telling me that this uncle we are talking about had gone into a coma and died the day I had the experience. It felt like ice water had been poured down my back when she told me this. I had lost any real ideas of God or faith and had become somewhat of an atheist. Needless to say this experience caused me to rethink some of the conclusions I had come to.
I feel blessed to now understand that even in our darkest confusion something loves us so much that it went out of its way to assist me and bring me back to a state of absolute certainty about Gods love for us.
During the experience it seemed like there was a vast amount of information that I was somehow allowed access to. One thing that I came away from this experience understanding beyond any shadow of a doubt was that any Idea that God is unhappy with us or would judge or allow us to be punished for any reason is simply impossible.
I can’t explain the love I felt with words. They simply don’t make words big enough or complete enough to do this. The only way I can begin to convey this love to you is to say that there was simply nothing else there. Nothing but love. No hint of judgment, no displeasure of any sort. It is as though God sees us as being as perfect as we were the day we were created. It is only in our confused idea of ourselves that we seem to have changed.
I hope this is of some help to you. Good luck. Love and blessings.
Your brother don

If I tell you three things:
1. I have green eyes.
2. I'm a millionaire.
3. I have telekinetic powers.
Which are you likely to take on my word, or "faith", as you might call it?
The first one is quite possible, though false. Until I told you, you might believe me and repeat it as true. It is easily proven or disproven.
The second is somewhat possible, but you'd want proof of (and access to) my bank account and verifiable evidence. (I am a multimillionaire...if my money is in Korean won, not dollars.) You wouldn't believe me today, but I could prove it, were it true.
If I claim the third, I'm either a loony or a conman. If you believe the third, you are either a gullible moron or a true believer who wants it to be true.
Religion and the religious are the same way. I'm not calling you a gullible moron, but you are a true believer. You believe and accept something that is unprovable and without testable evidence.
The nonreligious accept (I wouldn't say 'believe') with evidence or plausible argument when they don't see the evidence. Evolution and Einstein's physics may not be understood or observable by the average person, but they fit the evidence and are possible, like being a millionaire.
The problem lies in the dishonest theists who claim that evolution is as impossible as telekinesis, or that a dead person walking out of a grave is as common as green eyes. If the religious are willing to put their faith in proper proportion to reality, there is no conflict.
You and other theists have a right to believe, but cannot claim it as a proven fact. Admitting this does not prevent you from believing in a "god".

Sane people believe that which can be proved in the real world - that's why Einstein and Galileo are accepted, although it is possible that Einstein's theories may be superseded in the future by a more comprehensive theory.
Whenever you can demonstrate a real world proof for what you believe, you are on solid ground. Otherwise, you are just left with wishful thinking, speculation, fantasy, delusion, religion etc.

Does it start with belief?
I am of the opinion that it starts long before belief. I am of the opinion before belief is lacking, a desire to fill the lacking, a realization that one can not fill his own lacking, a search or refusal to search by just accepting the lacking, etc., etc.
I may of course be very wrong and I do accept that; however I find belief the solution to an in place condition in the innate nature of each and every humankind in the Mr Adam Family - placed there by God Most High.

I first got here into contact with faith in college, and through that aspect I were literate for 3 years, so it became slightly too previous by using cajole me. One reason should be that I surely have this tendency to ascertain issues i do not realize, I keep diggind until eventually i'm getting it. As a toddler, I spent hours on a daily basis studying by encyclopedias, searching for causes to something i'd considered or heard. So, you ought to say i became born an atheist, and managed to prepare myself formerly faith had a threat at me. I did use to count on Santa, does that count number? curiously the mummy and dad idea Santa became extra significant than jebus, thank FSM. i did not believe in the supernatural even as i became a toddler, and that i nevertheless do not.

The difference between your examples and religious belief...those science examples you mentioned didn't just start off as a guessing sort of belief. They observed things which lead to a hypothesis then some testing to prove that hypothesis.
I'm not sure if you were really asking anything...so I just thought I'd critique your paragraph a little.

your question, if you wish to call it that, is poorly posed and vague at best....rambling and defies specificity of response...a collection of rambling thoughts. My answer: get organized!
