Germantown, OH...We're moving there in a year. If you live in town kids can walk to school, the playground, the town pool and the icecream shop. All within a block of the police department. My son was playing on the monkey bars one time when we were there, he fell, and one of the officers saw him and ran over to check on him. That kinda thing makes you feel good. Also, last I check the student/teacher ratio was 13 to 1. It's an awesome place. Also it's right between Cincinatti and Dayton so it's usually pretty easy to get a job.

I live here in New York even thou in a nice neighborhood like Manhattan I don't feel NY is a good place to raise children.
It is safe, we have the world on our feet on almost all aspects of life such as art, education, work....but for raise a child I think New York lacks a lot of life's quality and the sense of value. I can't stand the idea of seeing my child raiding in the subways here, or riding in their bicycle back from school and many other things that kids need like space for example. New York is all about space every inch is a fortune here, therefore I don't think a kid can grown healthy and happy in a city like NY. It's a great city for adults that are already grown and already sure of themselves and values.
I heard the country (up state) side of NY its a great place to raise kids.

I don't think there is a safe place anymore. Things can happen anywhere. You have to be on your guard no matter where you live. You never know if there's a child molester nearby.
