One of the hardest things to do for any Christian is to forgive themselves of sin. Once you know in you're own mind that God has forgiven you, you will be on the right road to forgiving yourself. How do you know God has forgiven you? By truly believing in Him and asking Him for forgiveness through Jesus and all sins may be forgiven except one. If you really believe in God and Jesus, you will be forgiven so give yourself a break and forgive you. It will happen over time. Hang in there and if you love God, He will love you for an eternity.

You nor any one or anything else can forgive you if you have done anything that is not morally right. The reason is that we have something called the "memory" in our brain. Any good or bad we do will always be in our memory. Whist we cherish the good memories, we hurt thinking of the bad memories we have. This will be there till the day we die. Some stuff you did, you can forgive yourself by thinking that you were immature or ignorant. But some stuff you do, with knowing it's wrong and against your will, you don;t find it easy to forgive your self.

In my opinion it comes from lack of the clear knowledge of the truth. One looks at a scar and thinks maybe it can be erased or maybe it should not be there. Why not look at the scar to remind you that you are only dust and that you do need a God and his provisions.
The past is to accept and to learn from but most do not see that. Instead they see the past as a reminder of what they were and regret it. So in pure reality they are looking back instead of walking by faith and looking ahead to tomorrow. Maybe they never heard that God did set their sins as far away as east is from west. Maybe they do not really understand that Jesus did pay for it a long time ago before it even happened.
Your question brings to my mind the question, "Why is not more time spent on the real truth in teaching and less time in judging others and collecting money for God's work?"
You have a good day and do smile. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to say this.

i think we are the only ones who know our self truly and because of that it is we who should judge and forgive our self for any action " we " see as wrong or incorrect ... the only way to move forward in life is to forgive our self or we carry so much weight in life
I'm sure god ( if this is your belief) would want us to do so also , he would want us to love our self and learn from all that we have done , not to carry it about with us forever
i personally would not have an abortion but i have never been in such a position that i would have to make a decision like that so i cannot condemn anyone for doing so
my mother on the other hand has and i know that if she carried her baby her life and the babies life would have been terribly bad , i know that the baby is in spirit and holds no anger at my mum and is growing and learning in spirit in a place where there is no anger or hurt ...
we should never judge those who make such a hard decision like this without walking in their shoes .. nor should a person carry such guilt when it is very obviously one of the hardest decisions they will ever have to make

People do not know how to love themselves. (That's why many have a hard time loving others.)
Forgiveness stems from love and sometimes understanding.
With abortion, there is a mourning process. When the person eventually comes to grip with the situation, then healing can begin.

You don't need to ask forgivness of what has never judged you guilty.
God judges nothing that we do.
You have been lied to about our loving source.

What is done is done. No need to beat yourself up for past decisions. Accept those decisions and move on.

I think these people need the reasurrance from others that what they have done is okay. It would be a lonely place indeed if we didn't need other people.
