I answered a question like this recently and had my answer deleted because I answered in the affirmative. Reason: insulting other participants. If you think I'm wrong why do you feel so threatened?

Yes I think Einstein was a simpleton
Having a Masters may mean you are still confused
My answer was deleted remember, read my question again and you will know my answer
My IQ is 140+, which by the scale on which I was tested, puts me in the top 2%. People who believe in God have been killing people like me for thousands of years. Revenge of the Geeks is upon you!!!

I don't mind if you call me stupid, I am neither insulted nor threatened by it. Its also a valid opinion, I very well might be. Lets just say I was religious once and then I saw the light. Its in my third eye.

I'm not calling anybody names, its a generic generalised challange to spur a debate. BTW this is the most answers I've ever had to a question so it worked.

I don't know...can't say. The people who belive in God may think that those who don't are stupid. And that's just what those people think who don't---that those who believe are stupid. So it's just a waste of time!

I don't feel threatened as much as insulted. Try re-phrasing the question so that you might encourage a healthy debate and not an argument. Maybe you just aren't gifted with an expansive vocabulary and I will give you a slight handicap for that.
Just a note though, any time you walk up to someone on the street, and ask, "Hey, are you stupid?" do you anticipate a positive reaction. I doubt it. More than likely you will see retaliation, possibly physical. Therefore, the one you should be asking the question is yourself.
By the way, no I don't. I have fairly unconventional beliefs, which is why I am not defensive. I just don't like being called or asked if I am stupid as I didn't get my Masters being stupid.
Now to turn the tides on you, and this time in the religious context. It is fairly accepted that belief in anything is a difficult concept, when you break it down. This can be religious or otherwise. It takes work to believe. It doesn't take any not to, therefore making the act of disbelief a simple one. A simple one can be likened to a simpleton (A person simple in nature), a common slang term for this is "stupid."
Now one last time, and this time it is my turn. "Are you stupid?"

No they are NOT stupid at all, they want an answer to what we can't know and do find comfort in a faith. When one do not know, there starts a believe, mostly an educated believe, which do have some points, that shows some facts around it, but can't yet be seen as a proof, as the evidences are too weak for the moment. A faith might have more in common with feelings than a proof, a faith can give guidelines in life to every one. The ten commands given to Moses is some general laws to follow and they goes for both Jews, Christians and Muslims as well, who all believe in one omnipotent God.

Some say God helps them become a better person and some say God stops them from being a better person and sadly they both are right.
I know many theists and atheists and they both are good people with good heart. As a matter of fact, I have had some of my best friendly arguments on human moral standards with my atheist friends and they all agreed that the same thing as I posted above.
But I do think here on Y!A, there is a big group of young kids who think it's "cool" to be atheist and become just an ignorant against all religions, this is where they are very very wrong.
If someone thinks that once he/she dies, nothing is going to happen is fine with me then why is there a problem when I believe that there is another life waiting for me after this life earthly life?

Is your unbelief stupid?
This is another attempt to evaluate religious fervor with logic (a technique based on scientific method).
God reveals, man observes. We don't question the scientific method that we use all the time, but we do question revelation that is beyond our observation.
The simple answer is we don't know. We are books designed for believers, but to the nonbelievers they seem foolish.
So is the belief in God (something we get from only revelation) stupid? The right answer is: I don't know; the question is meaningless since there is no God; or there is no meaning without God. Frankly these answers are both stupid and brilliance at the same time.

No they are not.
It is all in human behaviour - some are adventures and others are a bit laid back. When you are told to believe something from small days and you live in a community who flows in one direction, it takes an absolute rioter to turn against the tide. There are some who do this and some others are scared to do it and others well, they are on the fence. Other reasons as social pressure also matters in this regard.
So they can't be called stupid, they could be intelligent people, thinking in different lines. After all Life is a mystery even in the 21st century.

People who believe in "god" are not stupid, they are simply brainwashed by the traditions observed by the family they were born into.It is not a matter of choice, it starts from birth. The belief in god diminishes as a society becomes more educated. Gods are used to explain what is unknown. God were used to explain fire, the sea, love, war, lightening, the sun, the moon, thunder, earthquakes, whatever existed. Now we know more about those things, and need fewer gods. A few people(clerics) found that they could hold power(one of man's most great revered flaws) over people if they could get them to believe that they, the cleric, could communicate with "god" and save them, ie, Moses, Jesus, Mohammad, his uncle, Buddha, and all the others. The people are not stupid, just misinformed. The greatest problem is that they are so brainwashed that they follow these religions teachings blindly. This is the source of so much ignorance in the world today. Go to worldwithoutreligion.com or org.

There are many nicer ways to ask why people believe what they do, so I suggest to try that.
Why MY post on Stephen Hawking's question was deleted, I can only wonder. It was thoughtful and insulted no one. I feel hurt and insulted.
While religion may disgust you, after all, nobody really knows whether there's a creator of all things, or whether we are an active part of that entity. Apart from that, belief in a personal god appears to me to be a package of motives.

Whether God exists or not isn't the point. Some people NEED to believe that such a fate-spinning entity exists as their last bastion of hope in the face of tragedy. Even if your "God" is a piece of lint, praying to it will probably give you confidence.
So I don't know if God exists and no one does, but one thing I do know is that believing in God has probably kept me from taking a swim with the toaster or blowing a pistol. I guess that's what is important.

i became once an atheist who felt as you do about faith, in reality contained in the previous possibly i'd have printed a query like this, besides the undeniable fact that now i'm a Christian, and that i imagine you're ignorant as I once became. There are theories with reference to evolution etc which some use to describe our origins, that are merely that theories. besides the undeniable fact that there has never been any medical info to coach how existence got here into being contained in the first position. in reality lots of lots of the worlds best suited scientists such as Albert Einstein were non secular- you comprehend why? because in case you are able to quite comprehend and savor the ask your self and perfection of the international, the complexity of existence, and the unique brilliant characteristics of human beings, it is quite puzzling to have self belief that we got here from nowhere. And the added knowledgeable you're of such issues the added sturdy it is to have self belief that there is not any God. i'm particular that in case you've been to bypass to church and be taught the bible, you emotions with reference to this example would substitute
