Planet Earth is quickly becoming a giant dumpster hurling through space. After all earths resources are used up the only resources we are going to have available to us are from the landfills, salvage yards, etc. Millions of tons of glass, plastic, metal, paper and organic waste (kitchen scraps, lawn clippings, etc) , all recyclable items, are hauled to landfills every day. All of this kinda stuff IS earths resources. The raw materials for nearly everything we use were taken from the earth. Hauling all this garbage to the landfill ain't the solution.
Someday, maybe not in your future, but in your childrens, or their childrens future we're gonna be forced to go back and dig up these landfills cuz that's the only resources we are going to have left...
It would be much better to recycle materials immediately after they are used than to just keep stuffing the planet with garbage. and that's something that's gonna take all of mankind to fix. I live on a small farm/ranch operation and we recycle metal, wood, all organic kitchen and yard waste.
My little recycling operation does a tremendous amount for my home and I feel good about my tiny effort to save our planet. Out of the billions of humans that occupy the earth a very small percentage of them actually recycle. This is going to have to be a global effort, we need everybodys help.
Have you ever seen a dumpster that needs to be emptied really, really bad? With garbage hanging out the top and on the ground all around it. That's what the earth is going to look like someday and YOU and I are the ones who need to take action.
Our grandparents left a pretty clean planet for their children. Our parents left a pretty clean planet for us. Now it's up to US, people. If you recycle, that's great. If you don't you need to start right now... Let's try to get this planet cleaned up for the next few generations.

REturn, REuse, REcycle...it's an issue that definitely needs to be taken more seriously. There will come a time when recycling will be mandatory, required by federal law. Unfortunately, because the U.S. government is totally REactive instead of PROactive, this won't happen until it's become an emergency situation. -RKO-

Hey underworld;
We no longer have the option to choose. It's recycling that's pushing us.
It's going to be pretty soon that we'll have to take individual responsibility for recycling our own stuff and not the centralized "someone else will take care of it" system we're using now

DUH! YES! ! !
It should be manditory!
What ever can be recycled should ALWAYS be recycled, and we should stop using stuff that can't be recycled or bio-degradable ... Non-Bio-Degradable stuff should become illigal!
