Yes, it's true. My ex boyfriends mother liked me, but his father I think may have been the reason for us not being together anymore.
You just need to prove to them how much you love their daughter, and how much you can look after her and them. What positive things you can bring into the family etc.

At the end of the day, it's your relationship with her. Not your relationship with them.

Of course they do, ALL parents do to some extent. The real question is: Is your mutual love strong enough to endure their bias?

If so then give it time and if you truly are her soulmate then they will accept you as part of the family (or eventual family as the case may be).
