Dear Aethist, we live in the world of storries. We live in beliefs. God, Jesus, Allha, Adam, Eve, you, me all images. Take the history of human kind almost completely known to us which is about 500 years. Before that period is more of guess work. The older the storry, the lesser the reliability(compared to this time) is. But, even few older things are more evident since more people taken up the course or the rulers of that time preserved some.
Can you tell me what is the time in which this adam and eve story originated? The social situation at that point of time? the relevance of that? Sorry we have no clue.....
And now, we live in many more distorted storries which are the creation of governments and media. Next generation when they finds out the storries we believed were wrong, will you be there to prove that the situation at that point of time required that storry or created by some ruler for his survival and we believed??????
For me, that storry makes sense for the people of that time. Look at our older generation with compassion and do not call them fools as you are going to be one of them tomorrow.

Doesn't make sense to me for 2 reasons.
1: Adam and Eve did not ask me before they ate the fruite, hence I do not take any responibility for their actions.
2: God does not need to kill (quote) "HIMSELF" (unquote) or any innocent man for my bad deeds since he knows it is *I* who is doing the wrong things to myself and to people around me.
How many Christians here who will co-sign for my car? Yet they tell others that God killed Himself for our sins.
I have never seen someone so ignorant to his/her religions than the current Christians who read the words of Jesus and then go follow the teaching of some guy name Paul who NEVER met Jesus personally, who thinks Jesus is a mystry and yet claims that "Holy Sprit" came onto him and made him write all this anti-Christ crap and then they claim to be the true followers of Christ.
Ezekiel 18:20-21
The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son (the progeny of Adam) shall not bear the iniquity of the father (Adam), neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him. But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die." Ezekiel 18:20-21
Jesus says the kids are innocent:
Mark 10:14
When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
And here is Paul:
2 CORINTHIANS 12:16
Be that as it may, I have not been a burden to you. Yet, crafty fellow that I am, I caught you by trickery!

Since when has religion ever made any sense?
they say god is all-loving and yet he throws Adam and eve out of the garden of Eden-- HUH??
if god is all-loving then he would not ask his "only son" to die.
if god is all-powerful and all-knowing then all the disasters that have happened "god" would have prevented it-- but of course people will say he is testing us and make a reference to Job.
Religion makes as much sense as allowing someone with the intelligence of Homer Simpson to work in a nuclear power plant

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave us his only begotten son that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life." Everyone is a sinner. I know you are just confused now..but im praying that God will touch your heart right now. You are created by God with purpose.Even if we are sinners..the Lord will love us just the same. He is just so magnificent.I am sorry that you feel that way about God..but He will be patiently waiting for you to come back to Him..and He will be so glad to accept you just like the lost son.Im not here to argue with you..but to share with you the joy of having to know Jesus in my life and to all those who believe in Him. It is not too late my brother. . through the mighty name of Jesus... God bless you and your family.

No it doesn't make sense the way you portray things to be in your question but I guess you are going by the teachings that are being taught in Churches around the world I will try to answer some of your questions but if I don't get it answered the way to make sense to you then feel free to ask for clarification.
The rebellion in the Garden of Eden raised an important issue or question.Jehovah told Adam not to eat from a certain tree in the garden. If Adam did, what would happen?God said:"You will positively die."(Genesis2:17). However , Satan said exactly the opposite, He told Adam's wife,Eve, to go aheadand eat from the forbidden tree. "You positively will not die," Satan said,"In fact, he went on to tell Eve: "For God knows that in the very day of your eating from it your eyes are bound to be opened and you are bound to be like God knowing good and bad,"(Genesis3:1-5). Eve disobeyed God and ate. Why? Eve believed Satan. She thought that she would benefit by disobeying God. She reasoned that no longer would she and Adam need to answer to God. No longer would they need to submit to his laws. They could decide for themselves what is "good" and is "bad".Adam went along with Eve and also ate. Discussing man's original sin against God, a footnote in the Jerusalem Bible says: "It is the power of deciding for himself what is good and what is evil and acting accordingly, a claim to complete moral independence....The first sin was an attack on God's sovreignty." That is, it was an attack on God's right to be man's absolute ruler ir superior. So by eating from the forbidden fruit, Adam and Eve withdrew themselves from under God's rulership. They wentr out on their own, doing what was "good" or "bad" according to their own decisions. So the important issue or question raised was: Does God have the right to be absolute ruler of humankind? In other words is He the one to decide what is good or bad for humans? Is he the One to say what is right conduct and what is not?Or can man do a better Job of governing himself? Whose way of ruling is best? Can humans, under the invisible direction of Satan, rule sucessfully without Jehovah's direction? Or is God's guidance needed in order to set up a righteous government that will bring lasting peace to the earth? All such questions were raised in this attack on God's sovreignty, on his right to be the only and absolute ruler of humankind.

first of all, the story of Adam and eve has a meaning that Adam refer to all the men and eve to the women. but hey forget and ignore what people say, you have to believe in your Christianity as you like and have faith in it.

first of all to the one who said that Christianity wont exist if you don't believe in it....LOL...thanks for the laugh.....boy are you deceived..or do you not believe in that also?.....oh well to each his own....
anyway....Jesus was not forced to do anything...He chose to do it because man made the choice to reject Him and He loves mankind, His creation so much that he willing laid His life down for all mankind.....to me that speaks volumes...because he chose to do it...he could of just said wow they are a big mistake and I'm just bailing out of here and they can live till they cause all to become extinct because of their own hatred and sin....imagine what you would be living right now if He would not of died for our sins and chose to stay in this earth and give up on us.... you think life is hard and things are getting worse and worse as mankind progresses into the future well it is nothing to what it could have been.....the universe with out God is place of death and destruction and mankind are destructive....I for one and glad that He chose to stay and not leave us in this mess man has made alone

The bible is a book of mythology and was never intended to be taken literally or seriously.
Why do you suppose the inventers of the bible (Catholic church) made it a crime for laymen to read or own a bible?
