The most common type of headache is the tension-type headache--a mild to moderate, nonthrobbing, steady aching that spreads to both sides of the head and lasts hours to days. Other types of headaches, including migraine and cluster headaches, occur less frequently. Migraines cause mild to severe throbbing pain and can occur on one or both sides of the head. Cluster headaches are the least common type of headache and cause severe pain around one eye, which usually goes away in one to two hours and may recur over weeks or months.
Common causes of headaches include:
Alcohol, caffeine, or other drug use or withdrawal.
Changes in the levels of chemicals in the body (neurotransmitters).
Coughing or sneezing.
Dehydration.
Dental problems or procedures, such as pain from grinding the teeth or from a root canal.
Eating or drinking cold foods and fluids.
Emotional stress.
Exposure to smoke or fumes from chemicals, including carbon monoxide.
Eyestrain.
Fever.
High altitude. Lower oxygen levels at high altitudes can cause headaches.
Medical procedures, such as the aftereffects of a lumbar puncture (spinal tap).
Medications. Many medications can cause headaches.
Muscle strain in the neck, upper back, or shoulder muscles.
Upper respiratory infections.

Scientific method. Go with glasses for a few weeks, and see if the headaches go away!
Sometimes I can tell my contacts are messing with me if they are either old, or have been in for more than 8 or 10 hours. If you nap with them in, that might also do it.

My daughter went through a lot of headaches, I would have your eyes rechecked, just in case your prescription changed. In her case her Dr recommented her drinking more water, and it does seem to help.
