As much as they need to,
there are not set rules, set for this,
some say it is a sin. and they don't or won't (and lie about it)
some have overactive hormones,
some like to feel great,
some keep the sexual appetite in control,
some learn about the bodies they live in.
and we are all different,
personally all the above apply to both males and females, inc me

for some it is more than others... on a regular day i have known people to masturbate on an average of 2 times a day.. but then i have known others that do more or less.. there are some people that don't do it at all..

usually once a day sometimes twice a day. When l'm trying to cut back l can cut back to 2 or 3 times a week. l tried to quite completely many times once l went a whole month and a half.But after about 2 weeks my body was acting weird and l had to pee constantly and my penis began to shrink so now l try to do it as a regular workout enjoy it every day my penis has gotten larger through meditation and l'm feeling better about my body.
