You're at the local convenience store making a purchase using your atm/debit/credit card and the genius behind the counter feels it is necessary to direct you in pushing the correct buttons to complete the transaction, as if you have never taken this same action before?
DRIVES ME BATSHI*T.... how bout you?
I've started informing these people that I have raised two children, hold down a good job and actually drove myself to their store and am pretty goddamn sure I can figure out the machine without guidance. They don't seem to like it very much, but at least I'm cutting down on repeat offenders.

Anger management?? Passed it with flying colors, thank you very much. Facilitator actually defered to me on several occassions.
Maybe just maybe, if folks weren't in such a big hurry things would go a bit smoother in the world?
Maybe just maybe, if we cut down on the time spent doing totally mindless things, ie; watching WWF, soap operas or "reality" t.v., our minds would not be used to being on autopilot and we would actually have to think for ourselves and particpate in real reality. If my "head is in the game" and I've played the game before - I shouldn't need the guidance.

The poor person behind the counter is use to having idiots for customers. So when an intelligent person comes along, they are dumbfounded on what to do. Forgive the person behind the counter and ignore their instructions. It is much nicer and easier for you to simply smile and say thank you.

Yes, all such (so called small rudenesses) things are very, very rude.
You see I live in a small town where I grew up and they all know I have 3 exellent university degree's and you know what they just do it to get my attention because they think I am fabulous.
Whenever I am around they start talking so loud you could hear it in eindhoven.
As I am not ineterested in those people - and that kind behaviour is very, veery, very rude - I have some rows with the people here sometimes too.
It is my experience too that shouting helps - it quiets down for a while untill they start again.
Such people are just so full of themselves.

You must be only person in the world who hasn't been stuck behind the customer that can't remember the pin, that doesn't press the yes button or the no for cash back. The clerk is just trying to make the transaction faster and move on.

Don't sweat it. The 6 people in front of you didn't do it correctly. I worked at a grocery store and I would say about 3 out of 4 people will do something wrong on the pad if you don't direct them. These are the people why we print "May contain Peanuts" on jars of peanut butter.

It does but like the other person said they deal with stupid people on a regular bases. If they taught atm usage and a few other things in school then maybe we wouldn't have to deal with some of the bs.

Excuse me, if they are working behind the counter of a convenience store, they aren't a genius...probably barely high school graduates.

It would seem to me that you have a very large chip on your shoulder. They're only trying to help. There are ways to minimize the unnecessary assistance other than being bellicose. Anger management is in your future. (I hope!!)

I have my own pet peeves, but this one never bothered me. Maybe you are going through a test for patience. Next time, be real nice and maybe pass the test and it won't happen anymore. Good Luck
