Everytime I try to open one it crashed my browser. The computers at the university have netscape and PDF's open up just fine there but mine just can't do it. How can I fix this?

Likely, the setting at your university on the Netscape browser are set to use Acrobat. While I am not familiar with Netscape's interface, it is probably similar to how you would correct IE.

Finding you Internet Options, you need to make sure that it applies Acrobat to any .PDF files it tries to open. As I said, I know how it works in IE, so yours may be a little different.

Internet Options > Programs > Manage Snap-Ins.

You may need to specify some information or even install Acrobat, but there is a free version available at adobe.com.

Have you installed the plugin?
If so, then I would be concerned that either the plugin or Netscape is corrupt, thus the crashing.
Another mechanism for a crash is that Netscape takes a pile of memory and pdf a bunch more, so if you only have a minimum amount, the extra needs cause it to freeze or at least to hang up in page swapping hell.

Try using CTRL-ALT-DEL to bring up the Windows Task Manager, and use the processes tab to watch what pops to the top (sort by memory usage) when it freezes. Also use the Performance tab to see if you hose your CPU.

This should not be happening, so I certainly hope you find out what is wrong.

Try updating acrobat reader or netscape. If you still can't get results, use a different browser, or save the pdf file and open in the acrobat reader browser thingy.
