Or is 8 glasses now prescribed? Who knows... All's I'm sayin is that it seems rather improbable that one can drink at least 6 glasses of H2O a day, every day. Do any of you actually do that?

Wow a lot of answers!

I manage to get in only about a bottle of water a day (about 2 glasses). I'm not countin juice, soda, and gatorade. How much water content would those even provide?

6 glasses of water a day? Are you kidding. Of course you can drink 6 glasses of water a day it isn't that hard. There are millions of Americans who can drink 6+ glasses of beer a day. Water is the best thing out there for you to drink. In fact if you drink soda and you replace your soda with only drinking water you will lose around10 pounds over 2 weeks without excercising at all.

Personally I drink a Soda with my meals and water the rest of the day. It easily tops over 8 glasses a day.

Drinking water can't pop your bladder. You would pee yourself long before that ever happened. Drinking way too much water can make you quite ill, even kill you.. but just 6 regular size glasses won't do it, it would take gallons. However, the issue is you are wanting to drink more water for health reasons I assume, and to get that benefit, you have to stretch it out through the whole day unless you have just been in the heat or exerted a lot. Drinking water the way you are isn't harmful or dangerous, but you may not get the health benefits you are seeking.

I drink that easily, and generally much more. I believe the recommendation is 8 glasses, plus if you're overweight, you need 1 extra glass for every 25 pounds you are overweight.
I started slowly increasing my water intake about 8 years ago, and now it's a habit to drink a lot of water. You will notice the difference...you feel so much better when you're constantly hydrated. I had to go to the bathroom a lot at first, but my body acclimated quickly.

I used to drink close to 10 glasses of water a day when I was pregnant, breastfeeding, or trying to be healthy. I know probably manage to get 4 glasses of water a day. I usually drink Crystal Light to help flavor the water. I believe 8 glasses if the ideal amount. Just try your best. I did feel better, look better, and felt healthier when I did drink more. Thanks for the reminder, I will now try to drink more water.

I don't actually set out to drink 8 individual glasses. I carry a drink bottle with me everywhere and you'll be amazed at how much you drink just sipping water every now and then and not actually consciously thinking about it. I drink the equivalent of about 9 + glasses a day using that method.

I've read seventeen replies to your question before deciding to answer it myself.
It's because I have actually drank at least that much water in a day for quite a while that I thought I could contribute something.
Strictly from my own experience I will say that my drinking a lot of water daily definitely effected results.
I was a wholesale buyer of used cars at the time and on the road all the time.
What you get to find out pretty fast drinking so much water is how much it results in how much you have to pee,..and I mean, all the time, and like, right now, and I mean now, anywhere and everywhere. .
After a while I realized I was drinking a lot of water, aside from being told of it's supposed health benefits, more out of habit than desire. I believe water is health benefitting ok, no problem, but so much?
To be drinking so much water, to me, just got to be to much like work. I needed to find something more reasonable.
Eventually I settled on an 8oz. 50/50 juice/water mix with breakfast . A 12oz. glass of water before lunch and the same before dinner. Still drinking whatever I would normally have with my meals. Like coffee with my breafast, as an example.
I like this routine, I find it also tends to curb my appetite so I eat more responsibly.
Hey, everybody's different. I think what you believe has a lot to do with how you'll see results.
Mine works OK for me.

I think there are people who drink more then 6 glasses a day. As for me, I naturally drink alot. I cant live without a lot of drinking water. I can just drink all day without even eating. That helps especially when u want to lose weight.

I doubt that many people actually do that. They may get enough water through food and other drinks, but I doubt that they actually count out 6-8 glasses of water a day! I actually tried to do that a few years ago and it lasted like 3 days!

They say that you don't have to drink 6 glasses a day, because some of your water needs you are getting from other drinks. I personally drink that because I am 9 months pregnant and my baby needs the water

I don't. I can't stand to drink more than a few a week. I can't make myself pay for a bottle of water. They cost more than a bottle of soda or juice most of the time! Plus most water has a mineral or metallic taste to it that I can't stand. I pretty much live on Diet Coke, and guess what! I'm still alive and feel just fine. Don't listen to those "experts." Just do what you want to do.
