Ya, to reach some destination u have to choose some road, some route some direction, that will make your things easy to reach to the fixed destination. So a religion is like that, it will make u to reach somewhere, otherwise u will remain just live life the best u can, and u will always remain there ............. u will not reach to any destination with out a road map. It is up to you to remain travelling or to reach some where. Just choosing a religion is not sufficient dear, then u have to go deep into the teachings of your religion, and u have to follow the rules, honestly. U have to be honest with your self.

No, I don't even understand what does it mean "believe in religion". As I know 'believe' is a weaker version of 'know'. Say, I know I walked on the beach today. I believe I will walk on the beach tomorrow. There was nothing yet in religious wording that would seem plausible or formulated clearly enough to consider seriously. Real history of the world is much more interesting than vague speculations.

I believe in religion. I simply have a very hard time placing my faith in people ..... especially those who turn religion into a tool for beating on others. Give me an irreverent, beer-drinking, cussing blue-collar worker who'd give you the shirt off his back, and you can keep the self-absorbed, pious, sweaty-palmed religionist who'd rather proclaim your certain fate in the fires of hell than extend a helping hand. There's something truly ironic about that, don't you think? Yeah. I believe in religion. I even believe in God. But people? I can muster thrill and love for people. Just don't ask me to have faith in them, nor in their views of religion.

Religions exist so yes I believe in them. I do not belong to one and I do agree with your approach. I followed this path for several years before I found Buddhism (Buddhism is not a religion strictly speaking)

But I do believe religion gives people a set of rules to live by. But unfortunately this sometimes causes them to kill each other!
